Pros: Lapa Rios is just paradise on earth. We can't even describe how wonderful our stay at the lodge was. From your arrival to your departure, you don't have to worry about anything, just enjoy the peace and nature at Lapa Rios. The staff is always kind and helps you out with any kind of wish you have. Thank you so much to all of you, you made our stay just magical! We did have a picnic at the beach, which you can't describe as a picnic, more than a private lunch at the beach with your own chairs, freshly made food and great juices. The coffee delivery in the morning was also a highlight for us, I mean, who doesn't like to drink a coffee in your bed and see the sun rise over the ocean. It's just paradise and you don't want to go back to reality after you've stayed at this place. Not only the luxury of this place, but also their way of sustaining nature and trying to keep the lodge as eco friendly as you possibly can is just another point why Lapa Rios Lodge is the best place where you can stay in Costa Rica. There's nothing more to say about this overwhelming place on earth, just go there and see it for yourself.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wonderful stay that’s our third time here in lapa Rios and we will come back the wildlife is amazing the staff is excellent and friendly
Cons: Perfect stay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Thank you sooo much amazing
Good 7.0
Pros: This resort is probably one of the coolest and more unique places I will ever stay in my life. The location is just unbelievable. It was an experience that I will never ever forget. Sleeping to the sounds of the rain forest, the outdoor shower, enjoying coffee in our bed wrapped in mosquito net. Just SUPER cool. With that being said this property has SO MUCH potential but they fell short so many times in our short 3 day stay there. For the money that we paid for this resort it should have been a flawless amazing time for two extremely easy going people. Sad to say - the staff/execution of things need some work. If you plan to stay at the Lapa Rios you are going to need a 4x4 rental car or arrange for some kind of pickup/transportation. If you do plan on renting a car I would suggest that you do so only if you are very comfortable driving. You will be driving on very rough terrain, across streams that may be high if they have had rain, across narrow bridges without sides and going up some seriously steep hills. I love driving and found the 30 minute bumpy drive really fun but I can see how some might be miserable. Corcovado National Park hike is a MUST. They offer tours right through the facility but they are insanely inflated. Maybe we weren't the right clientele for the Lapa but just consider your options. The included food menu was really wonderful and if you are a normal person without a lot of dietary restrictions you are going to be living the good life!! The location has its own self guided trails and some beautiful waterfalls that you can walk down to. All in all it was an amazing experience and we have great memories from staying at Lapa.
Cons: Prior to arrival the staff at Lapa reached out to ask about our dietary needs for dining since food was included. We brought to their attention that I was vegan and my husband was vegetarian/gluten free. We expected to have a prepared planned dining experience because of this. We did not. When we arrived at dinner our first night no one had any idea that we had dietary restrictions at all. They were able to create a special menu for us on demand but it made us feel really uncomfortable. The food was great but each night we were limited to one thing. Which - for the money we paid in my option was a waste. I would have went without the food included if that was an option because we basically threw our money away. We lived off chips and guacamole. The first morning I requested coffee and breakfast before a hiking tour. It never showed. I had to leave at 5:45 that morning and never had my morning coffee or anything to eat which made me pretty frustrated. The staff was nice but just clueless and kind of unorganized. Two nights that we were there they never turned off the pool lights. I heard guests complaining about how bright it was and how they couldn't sleep and had to turn them off themselves. We didn't have this issue but it was jut a string of weird things like this that just left us really unamused and annoyed. It is the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed at and to feel like you were totally riped off afterwards was just a very unsettling feeling. The last morning before check out we decided to go on the self guided path to take some photos and enjoy the property one last time. We asked the front desk if my husbands sneakers were okay and how long it might take us. He said it might take 20-30 minutes. He didn't mention that there are two trails and that one of them seems to never end. We got on the long trail thinking it would loop around (no maps or anything were provided) and it did not. We were gone for 2.

Pros: great host, good location, very safe.
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Nice, spacious 2-floor apartment, beedroom+bathroom upstairs, livingroom with kitchen andtoilet in the groundfloor. Free parking next to the entrance. Good wifi. Friendly and helpful owner.
Cons: An outside dining area (patio or terrace/balcony) would be nice.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Alberto the owner was very helpful in all aspect of our trip. By recommending local food places, beaches to go to. Location was excellent. Corner is the two banks, and across was the BM supermarket. The apt. Was at the corner of the main street.
Cons: Wifi often down
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Place was perfect, owner greeted and let us in, while giving lots of useful tips for our hike in Corcovado. Bed was comfortable, warm water in shower was a nice surprise. Perfect value for money.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great apartments and the staff was extremely friendly.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We came here to go for a one day trip to Corcovado. We choose Apartments Herrera to be our base for this. You have everything you need in short walking distance (ATM, big supermarket, gas station, restaurants....). The Apartments are great little two storey buildings. Downstairs a kitchen, a bathroom, the living room and a place to dry your clothes. Upstairs were two beds and a really good air condition. The shower is upstairs as well. You can park your car safely behind the gate, right next to your Apartment. Kitchen is good equipped, the fridge is big.
Okay 4.6
Pros: New Floor was very Clean
Cons: Sewer Stink was so very BAD, we Couldn't stay in Bathroom for any length of Time!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The place is really an appartment, so it has all the amenities, it is supplied with kitchen utensils, glassware, etc. A full bathroom upstairs and a small toilet room downstairs.
Cons: This is an appartment, but a basic one and it needs a little sprucing up, it's not a looker. But it was clean enough, except for some very small ants, but it was not that big a deal if you don't leave anything out.

Cons: Lots of work being done in no effort made to make it comfortable for guests while the work is being done. Staff speaks no English. Woman at the front desk did not smile even a little bit.
Poor 1.0
Pros: the only thing was the great pool, that was okay
Cons: The hotel building is terrible bad built , in the morning there are 33 degrees in the hotel floors For my expensive luxury room very bad service, these people wanted to charge one bottle of water which should be complimentary, the room and the bathroom are very old, it is urgent to do some renovation , the food in the restaurant was bad
Excellent 10.0
Pros: We loved our stay at Casa Roland! Wish we could give more than 4. The room and common areas are filled with dark wood and beautiful art work. The room was just the right size with lots of storage. Parking is convenient, easy and safe. Will stay here again. If there were any negatives, it would have been the lightning, a little dim for bedside reading.
Cons: Don't like the under rating from a lot of guide books. Had we listened to them, we would have missed this opportunity to stay at a great place!
Good 7.0
Pros: The room was very clean and people so friendly.
Cons: Place more towels in the bathroom, it was a room for 4 people and we got just two of them. At the check out time the reception forgot to ask for the keys back, by accident we took it with us. (Room 44) The music at the lunch time was a little inappropriate and loudly. It seems people that may not staying at the hotel were there, so it was more like a bar than a restaurant for your guests. We weren't told about the gym and sauna. I got known about that because I saw it till late night.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Clean room with comfortable beds. Excellent restaurant on site. Awesome pool area. Very friendly helpful staff
Cons: Don’t stay there the last Friday of the month unless you are a late nighter that likes to listen to very loud music until 1 am. They really should disclose this. It is frankly awful even with your windows closed and air conditioner running full blast. The volume is insane. Even early evening the music is so loud you won’t want to eat there. At night you won’t be able to fall asleep. Evidently it is only one day a month so a delightful place otherwise.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Amazing resort hidden in a quiet, non tourist-infiltrated area of Costa Rica! The pool complex is amazing! My toddler never wanted to leave. Breakfast was extensive and fresh. Rooms are large and comfortable.
Cons: Our only “complaint” is that on Saturday night the pool BLASTED music until midnight! They had. Large tourist group there that night, but our room faced the pool so it sounded like a nightclub outside our window. Downstairs rooms are a little musty and since the ceiling is low, feels dark. But, the mustiness is unavoidable in an area that is so humid.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The room and air conditioning were very good. Quiet and comfortable. The whole ambience of the hotel, retro, was very nice.
Cons: The music in the pool area and in the restaurant was too loud. The sauna did not work.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff was exceptional, pleasant, and helpful!
Cons: If there was a pool & a walkable beach, it would have been perfect. Not much they could do about the lack of beach.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Very friendly staff, nice location, restaurant, bar, tour operator and fishing gear shop on site.
Cons: The matress was a little hard for me, besides that, great!
Excellent 9.2
Pros: Every thing we needed and asked for -we got
Cons: 1. First breakfast was very poor, after complaining was improved significantly. 2. Shower head in poor condition - didn’t fix it for 3 days.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location, view and staff
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Absolutely beautiful! The rooms are right within the harbour. We paid a little bit more and booked the suite. Views to the boats. The breakfast was very nice, with eggs (you can choose between fried, scrambled etc.), toast, cooked bananas, rice with beans and coffee, juice. Very friendly and helpful staff. We will be back!
Cons: That we had to leave!! And just a note, when you book the suite it says balcony. The "balcony" is for everybody, we had people sit in front of our window. But it didn't bother us. Usually they stayed a short time and then we had the views back for ourselves!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: great location right on the water but wasn't able to stay for breakfast
Excellent 8.3
Pros: It was close to my final destination
Cons: It was very clean and the beds was so cool

Good 7.0
Pros: A/c worked well, bed comfortable, pillows weren't too hard or thick.
Cons: Suggest mopping w/ water only, as room/floor smelled like it had been washed many times with bleach or other chemical/artificial cleaner. Repairs to bathroom floor didn't have professional look, e.g. small areas covered with rough concrete instead of tile. In general appearance of room interior, esp bathroom, could use some 'sprucing up'. Another nightstand w/ lamp would be a good addition (only one side of king bed had a nightstand). Would have preferred room with view, hard to tell if room has view when booking online. Staff, incuding restaurant staff, were not very friendly unlike my visit 3 yrs ago. Waited a very long time for service, after 40 min at table got up and ordered drinks at bar. No one asked if we wanted food so after we finished our drinks I went to the bar for menus. No wait staff came by at any time to ask if we wanted anything else.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Sunsets over the golf
Cons: No windows to the outside in the rooms
Excellent 8.0
Pros: I love It... I would go back!
Cons: The pillows were a little hard but ok
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: Location
Cons: Room smelled musty. Bathroom had strong odor of sanitizers trying to cover up smell. Cockroaches in bed. Comforter on bed smelled and wasn’t clean.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The marina and access to the water. Great bar and restaurant, the staff so friendly and accommodating. Be sure to spend the extra money for the water front rooms it is diffidently worth the little extra. The whole place has so much charm. Excellent value.
Cons: Really nothing unless you are looking for a 5 star resort, even though it is rated 3 star the rating should be higher.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Great coffee view of bay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great value. Clean. On the water. Good size rooming. Staff spoke English. Easy to find. We enjoyed our stay here.

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Good food, nice staff, perfect location in between rainforest and Pacific ocean.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: So impressive. Superlative management and top notch service from the barman, to the guides, to the waitress (where else would a waitress bring along a guide at breakfast to help a guest identify a bird? Admirable sustainability strategy which is helpfully explained to guests. Unique location globally.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: A beautifully designed ecologically sound lodge in a stunning setting on the Golfo Dulche. We loved the friendly and attentive service provided by the wonderful team there - nothing was too much trouble and we felt thoroughly looked after. The range of activities available was superb whether you wanted a gentle and relaxing time with massage and yoga, you were feeling more adventurous and keen to snorkel, kayak or take one of the many guided trips or you were interested to learn more about their sustainability projects. Other treats included the exhilarating boat ride across the Golfo Dulche to reach the lodge (accompanied by a few dolphins!) . Fabulous hot showers, private but open to the forest too. Large shared dining space for sharing stories of your day and meeting fellow travellers.
Cons: The only tiny niggle was that a large group of non resident tourists were having lunch in the main dining area taking up the whole room on our first day. This detracted a little bit from the feeling of the lodge being exclusive and off the beaten track when this is something you’re paying a lot of money to experience. We were assured that this was not the norm and it only happened the once during our stay
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place was AMAZING! The highlight in our 2 and a half week stay. The place is amazing in itself, a real secluded gem. Absolutely beautiful and right in the middle of the jungle. The food is INCREDIBLE and the staff are all amazing. Eating dinner every night with the rest of the guests was also great. Lots to do and see - wish we had of stayed for a week!
Good 6.0
Pros: Very isolated eco lodge with wonderful staff who really care about their jobs, their country and their customers. This is the most unique place I have ever stayed.
Cons: Hot water mixer for the shower could have been a little better - but understand we are in the jungle.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: AMAZING! Do yourself a favor and stay here! We were truly impressed from the very start with the communication about arrival and departure plans, which they arrange for you, so there is no worries from the time you arrive until the time you leave. The food was incredibly delicious and probably the freshest that I have ever experienced during a vacation. They would catch a fish during the day on a fishing trip and have it prepared for dinner that night. They have their own garden of fruits/veggies/herbs that they used as sides/flavoring, so just think about how delicious everything freshly picked tastes. We were very impressed with the way they are taking initiative to be eco friendly with their alternative energy sources and how they recycle and reuse almost everything at the lodge (Highly recommended this tour, very impressive). The staff was outstanding and very helpful. They were all very knowledgeable about the different wildlife and plants in the area. They were always smiling and willing to assist with any questions/needs that we had. The tours were also top notch with the different staff/guides, they were constantly spotting and pointing out different marine life and wildlife. You are right on the edge of the Piedras Blancas National Park so you really do get the true nature experience! This was the highlight of our trip and I cannot recommended staying here enough!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The eco lodge is absolutely wonderful, specially the people looking after you, always with a lovely smile. Food is excellent and tours are delightful.
Cons: Nothing to say

Pros: Property was clean and all the staff were exceedingly pleasant. Overall great place to just relax and chill out. WiFi reached our pool view room as well which was a plus.
Cons: The drainage in the shower was slow so the water did pool a bit. Coffee available all day would have been a plus as well, it was just at breakfast.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Agua Dulce is located on an ideal beach, away from the Puerto Jimenez downtown area--about a 15 minute drive. Beach was within a two minute walk from facility. Excellent, small, clean pool. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast included. Prices for lunch and dinner a little high, but certainly beat having to drive into town to eat.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Good 6.5
Pros: The local area
Cons: Price Vs service
Excellent 9.2
Pros: The pool.
Cons: No TV
Okay 5.0
Pros: Breakfast was okay Good communication with staff Great effort on decoration for our honeymoon Nice pool
Cons: Poor Wifi connection Hole on the bedsheets Cracks over walls AC doesn’t work very well Noisy fan Road : 15min of bumpy, rocky and flooded road. Impossible to swim in the beach in front of hotel - too dangerous because of strong current So too expensive for this staying
Good 7.0
Pros: Clean. Staff very nice. Amazing location. Right next to the beach. Bar in the pool.
Cons: Food a bit overpriced. Room arrangement weird. We had no fridge nor coffee pot and could only get coffee at 7am (when restaurant opened for breakfast). Also no TV, or AC if you are looking for that sort of amenity. Included (free) breakfast only allowed one cup of coffee.

Pros: The Garden Room was extremely comfortable with wonderful views of the forest. It felt very exclusive. The trails were very good to walk around and get a real feel for the nature.
Cons: The food was not up to standard with rather meagre portions. I expected more for the money we paid. The atmosphere was a little stiff at meal times. I was surprised that the group of young staff at the entrance gate watched my 72 year old husband struggle down the stairs with two heavy suitcases when we were leaving.
