I had the best time traveling to the Amazon and would 10/10 recommend Monte Amazonica to friends! Great location far enough away from town with beautiful property, gardens and relaxing areas. I especially loved the hammocks and pool. Food was yummy and filling. Plus there is a bar :) Cabins were very clean and comfortable. Bring an extra battery pack to charge electronics as electricity is only available for 4 hours. Also bring a refillable water bottle and plenty of warm weather, light weight clothes. I was a solo traveler on this journey and made tons of friends in my group. And huge bonus that our tour guide Daniel is the coolest! He is very knowledgeable and shared great stories. If you want an opportunity to live in the jungle for a few days, see lots of animals and unwind and disconnect this is your place. I’ll definitely be back to visit!! Thanks for an incredible trip!
I think they can make improvements to the website. Add more information and make it more user friendly. As a solo traveler I needed a little more information before embarking on my trip.
The location near the Chuchna Clay Licks was excellent.
The architecture of the individual bungalows was interesting but not practical as their placement near each other created less privacy. Coordination of transportation to and from the site needs to be better arranged as eight people were originally going to be squeezed into a vehicle for five, making for an unsafe situation.
Great location away from town but not too much of a hassle. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cool activities nearby.
There were some renovations happening so was a bit noisy during the day. Some of the facilities seemed run down (canopy walk/zip-line) but it seemed like work was being done to improve things. Showers weren't hot but wasn't a real problem since it was so warm.
Food was tasty and I liked the communal meal times. I was a solo traveler and they put me in a room to myself instead of a dorm, which is nice. Paired me with another solo for our guided tours and meals so we weren't alone. I didn't realize there was a pool, which was great for an afternoon dip as it was super hot and muggy. Tons of wildlife right around the lodge, and the Tambopata reserve is very close. My guide was fantastic, he had a fun personality and knew a ton of info about the area and animals. Do note that there is no wifi, no cell reception, and no tv. You really do get to disconnect from the world. They have power for about 4 hours an evening for you to charge your phone or camera, I would recommend bringing a backup battery fully charged just in case. This is a rustic place, but also very well kept. You can tell that people care to make it a good experience. But it is in the jungle so don't come here expecting a luxury experience, you're getting a real jungle experience.
I would have liked to have 4 actual days at the property. I booked 4 days/3 nights and the first day was only really the afternoon and evening. The last day I was put on a boat and shipped back to the town at 8 am. So the 4th day was not really part of the deal, and makes it sound better than it is. Also, my third day ended when my guide was done with his job at 4 pm. So there was nothing planned for me to do for the rest of the day or the 4th day, and when I wanted to join the night boat ride to look for cayman there was an awkwardness about letting me. They did, and we had a great time and saw some cayman up close but it shouldn't have even been a question considering I paid for 4 days and really got no more than 2 full days of activities.
Amazing lodge. You get put into groups, depending on the day you arrive. I booked through here just for the bed and breakfast. Once you arrive they take you to the office and you look over the packages available ie. 2 day, 3 day etc. We stayed for 4 nights and left the morning of the 5th I highly recommend doing everything you possibly can. The trees are great, and we were incredibly lucky with what we saw. Jonathan was our guide and we wish him the best. He does this a lot, so be patient with him and he'll warm up. Also don't be greedy. You must give back to the jungle if you continue to demand from it. Go with an open mind and leave with no disappointments. Also, long, loose clothing. No tights. Mosquitoes are strong enough to bite through your rain jacket. Think about that. Pool was great, not the cleanest but lord, you're in the jungle. Saddest feeling to leave. We will be back to the jungle again.
Nothing! It's rustic and great. The food is a bit on the lower end side- again, you're in the Amazon. I'm a veggie and they had pretty good options. They will ask you when you arrive about dietary restrictions.
When you stay at Monte Amazonico Lodge in Tambopata, you'll be 9 minutes by car from Island of Monkeys. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available 24 hours).
