Top tips for finding the perfect Scottsdale hotel

If you would like to stay in a centrally located neighborhood that is within easy walking distance of major attractions, book a hotel in Old Town, such as the reasonably priced Holiday Inn Express.
For visitors who are not planning to use a car to navigate the city, choose a hotel located near one of the city’s free trolley stations, such as the Embassy Suites by Hilton. The trolley runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and connects most of the downtown area.
Scottsdale has a high concentration of upscale resorts, which are perfect for visitors who would like to purchase a package vacation. The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch is a 4-star choice with multiple swimming pools and an on-site golf course.
Active travelers, who want to experience Scottsdale’s natural scenery, should book a hotel near the famous Camelback Mountain, such as the JW Marriott.
Guests interested in architecture may enjoy staying at a hotel near Frank Lloyd Wright’s personal winter home, Taliesin West. The La Quinta Inn & Suites is a budget choice that is located just a short ride from the property.

Pro " We had a wonderful stay at the Phoenician. From the minute you drive on property until the minute you leave, it is spectacular. The grounds are impeccable, and each and every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful and kind. Service was outstanding. Honestly, we do not have a single complaint. Everything was incredible! "

Pro " Staff were all very friendly. "
Con " The hotel claims to be "pet friendly" and charges no addition fee for furry friends under 30lbs, which was great news for us. My husband and I chose to stay here because we wanted to travel and enjoy our stay with our 7lb dog. However, upon check-in, we were given a pet waiver to sign, which listed a number of rules & limitations (none of which were mentioned on their website, btw), including one line in particular stating "Pets are not allowed in any food & beverage outlets and all pool areas of the resort." For clarification, we asked the receptionist if pets are allowed on the outdoor patio areas of the restaurants, and were told they are not. We were very confused. A "pet friendly" hotel that doesn't allow pets to join their humans on the patios of restaurants, or at poolside (outdoors), but also are not allowed to be left unattended in the rooms?... we were honestly a bit bummed out! We did not want to break hotel rules and get in trouble, but we also did not want to have to stay in our room for the whole trip, or have to pay for additional doggy sitting, or have to leave the resort for every meal... that would've defeated the whole purpose of the visit. So, we decided to bring our dog to the restaurants and pool to see if we would get turned away. To our relief, we did not encounter any problems. If anything, all the servers/staff were SUPER nice and welcomed our dog, many of them seemed to be dog lovers/owners themselves. So everything turned out fine, and we enjoyed our stay—phew! But in all honesty, unless they clear up this confusion with their pet policy, I can't say we would come back with our dog, and we would be hesitant to recommend the hotel to any fellow pet parents. Pro " The location is great. Plenty of fun places to eat and get a drink within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff. "
Con " The grounds and room were a little worn out. Many of the outdoor areas were dirty and some areas felt abandoned all together. Very little care as it related to maintenance. The room was generally fine but there were some things broken and repair work was shoddy. "
