Top tips for finding the perfect Rome hotel

When booking a hotel in Rome, make sure to be very clear on the number and types of beds you want. In Italy, a double room generally comes with two twin-beds unless it is specified otherwise – always clarify what you would prefer. The Liberty Rome Suites hotel is a great choice for large groups.
Planning to visit the Vatican during your stay in Rome? Consider the Vatican Style Suite, which is only five-minute walk from St Peter’s Basilica. Another alternative could be the Mascherino Suites, which is the same distance away and also offers a shuttle service to the airport.
If you’re looking to have a hip and unique experience in Rome, take a look at the many hotels located in Trastevere, such as Hotel San Francesco. This bohemian neighborhood is a mixture of traditional and modern Italy, and it is very possible to find budget hotels in the area. Hotel Villa San Pio is one of many examples.
Many hotels in Rome provide complimentary breakfast. However, keep in mind that an Italian breakfast is generally composed of simple pastries or biscuits and coffee, instead of a buffet with eggs, sausages and bacon. At some 4- and 5-star hotels, such as Hotel Indigo, you might be able to find a more diverse menu.
Rome is spread out and it is oftentimes worth splurging on a hotel to be in a convenient location. If you want to be within easy walking distance of all the major attractions and sites, look at hotels that are as close to the Trevi Fountain area and Termini Station as possible. The Trevi Collection hotel is a modern choice that is centrally located near many famous attractions.
If hotels located in the Trevi Fountain area are outside your budget, select a hotel that is further from downtown but is located next to one of the city’s metro stops. Rome’s metro system is fairly easy to use and is incredibly cheap. The Grand Hotel Tiberio is a little bit more on the outskirts of the city, around 30 minutes by metro from the Piazza di Trevi, but still located right next to public transportation.

Pro " I enjoyed the feel of the hotel it was very relaxing. The staff were all welcoming and they made my stay a happy one "
Con " Not a lot. I was a little annoyed when checking out as the member of staff dealing with me insisted that there were 3 other people sharing my room and insisted that I pay for myself and 3 other breakfast for each morning I stayed. The only other thing was that I payed for a deluxe room but I'm convinced it was just a normal double I questioned it with reception and also complained it had a really poor view over the back of some buildings and not as advertised. I understood that it should have been carpeted instead it was just vinyl I would be pleased to have a comment from the hotel "

8.7 Excellent (1,945 reviews)
Pro " The hotel was very clean and the proximity to Termini train station was ideal! "
Con " We booked 2 rooms and the air condition did not work in one of the rooms. We alerted the reception desk 3 times. They sent 2 different people to try to repair but they did NOT repair it!!! It was 35 degrees Celsius outside and the air condition did not move from 26 degrees. One of the people that tried to repair the air condition told us that it was to be expected because the building is old!!! Also we asked the staff at the reception desk to provide us with another room and he refused to accommodate us because the rooms he had were not the same as ours!!! I have to add that the staff at the reception desk, was quite rude even when we explained that we needed to sleep comfortably as the next day, we had a 20 hours travel day and with the air condition not moving from 26 degrees, that would have been impossible!!! "

The bedroom was nice and modern as well as the bathroom. The staff was very helpful and friendly. "

Pro " Good value for the location. "
Con " The wifi was not working in our room, we requested assistance but the staff was rude and had only one answer : “it must be coming from your phone”. Well my wife and I had the same issue in 2 different phones and a laptop, they were connected to the wifi without any issue in the rest of the hotel (lobby, rooftop) but not able to connect at all in the room (3 different devices). Absolutely not professional. "
