Pros: Location. Walk to beach, town, free parking, howlers and igrauanas in the AM. On site services, such as spa, pool, restaurant. Absolutely perfect!
Cons: Not much
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was wonderful and went out of the way to make sure our stay was perfect. The grounds were gorgeous - the property is situation within a perfectly manicured tropical garden, and the pool and beach are picturesque. Bungalows were spacious and beautiful. Food was excellent.
Cons: The bed and pillows were quite hard. Everything else was so lovely, it was a bit disappointing to end the day uncomfortably. They did not have mattress toppers to make it softer. I would recommend investing in some for guests at request.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff, great food and helpful concierge to plan activities

Pros: The resort is beautiful and its location was amazing. I loved the fact that I could walk from the pool right to the beach. The sunsets were out of this world. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly. Gustavo and Maricela were incredible . Always willing to go the extra mile. It was also nice to be surrounded by nature. I LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!!
Cons: There was nothing that I disliked about the resort.

Pros: Beds were comfy, staff was so kind and amazing, even the other guests were super friendly! Loved everything about it! My kids absolutely adored our waiter, Senor Max, who was so sweet and kind and cheerful. I could see why they have so many repeat guests- we can’t wait to return!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Natural setting throughout
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The beachfront rooms had a beautiful view and wonderful relaxing chairs on the patio. We watched and listened to the waves, birds and howler monkeys. We had our own outdoor shower! Breakfast buffet was fresh and plentiful. Loved everything about this place.
Cons: I will miss this place. It was delightful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Capitan Suizo was a little piece of paradise, honestly was magical. Staff were beyond accommodating and so friendly. Property, pool and room were very clean and well kept. Felt like a home away from home. A very rustic authentic Costa Rican experience, while still luxurious and location at the end of Tamarindo beach made it very private and quiet. Was a very special place, that we look forward to going back to again.
Cons: There was nothing that didn't meet our expectations - it was our first time in Costa Rica and we couldn't have asked for a better experience so absolutely no complaints!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff is super accommodating and friendly. They aim to please and are very responsive ... Impressed by them all.
Cons: Food was generally good especially nachos poolside. Nice buffet breakfast. Dinner salad and a few appetizers for dinner were just ok.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room eas spacious and close to the pool. There was a good breakfast selection and the staff were friendly and attentive. The concierge was very helpful with dinner reservations and making arrangements for activities.

Pros: Very nice little BnB. Beautiful pool, very friendly host family and great & healthy breakfast.
Cons: I hope the payment (we have to pay the deposit through paypal) could be more clear up front.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I had a lovely stay at Les Voiles Blaches. The property and garden are beautiful and the hosts Karyn and Michael went above and beyond to make my stay extra special from arranging tours to making me a vegan and gluten free breakfast. Highly recommended!
Cons: There really isn’t anything to dislike! I would recommend that you rent a car if you plan on venturing out. Otherwise Karyn and Michael have a taxi service that can take you into Tamarindo for $15.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are modern furnished and have air-con. Bed is very comfortable. Nice and we'll kept property, the pool is refreshing and clean, shaded hammocks allow for relaxing. The breakfast is freshly prepared and was one of the best we had during our stay in Costa Rica! Karene and Michael are very nice people and run their business with a lot of passion. They are easy to reach via whatsapp or mail in case of questions.
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Les Voiles Blanches B&B! The entire space is quiet, relaxing, and safe. The pool was clean/the perfect temperature and the hammocks strewn around the space were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful space. The room had everything we needed (great a/c and internet), comfortable king sized bed, and beautiful bathroom. The location was perfect, far enough away from trashy Tamarindo to be quiet/safe, but close enough to go to dinner and explore a wide array of beaches! Besides the amenities the hosts were fantastic! They were easy to communicate with, flexible, gave us wonderful recommendations (even set up sunset horseback riding for us) and provided a delicious breakfast! 10/10 would definitely book again and recommend staying here!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The ability to watch Netflix was a plus. Owners friendly & helpful. The walk-in shower luxurious.
Cons: It was very windy and the tall plants next to the rooms made a lot of noise at night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was absolutely incredible . The rooms and the grounds were impeccable. Karene and Michael were amazing and helped us book 2 activities The hotel is a little far from the town of Tamarindo but it was very easy to get to. With that being said, we did feel like we were in our own little 4 room oasis.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely place Peaceful Nice owners Great rooms
Cons: No food or drinks Without prior warning this would be a pain as you have to drive everywhere
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool and garden, lovely setting , small scale hotel (4 rooms) , very friendly and helpful people, privacy , clean and well maintained place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well located, near to all the best beaches in Guanacaste. The pool is amazing and very quiet. The hosts are very kind. The room was confortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic experience, luxury and romantic vibes in this family own little bed and breakfast. The open roof shower is a must try! Lovely experience and people!!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It’s amazing what they’ve done with a dry piece of land, it’s all very tastefully decorated and you can relax in a hammock or in the pool We could make coffee and use some basic cutlery and wine glasses from the kitchen The semi-outdoor shower was a really unique and nice touch
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing little property a short drive from Tamarindo. Quiet and peaceful location with great access to a number of beaches provided you have a car. Karene and Michael were wonderful hosts! Soo welcoming and attentive. They had great knowledge of the area and made fantastic suggestions on beaches to visit, restaurants to dine in and the best spots for sunset. Breakfast was brilliant, although more of a set breakfast rather than a menu. I would definitely stay here again !
Cons: Nothing

Pros: My wife and i went to Costa Rica on our honeymoon, and we spent our final five days at the Tamarindo Bay Boutique Hotel. We absolutely loved it, hated to leave and can’t wait to come back again. Everything from the location, to the ambiance and decor, and especially the staff, was top notch. We can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Tamarindo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about this hotel. Small, quiet, convenient, clean, friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean and warm pool, close to town, excellent food, comfortable large rooms, inexpensive, wow!
Cons: There really wasn't anything at all to complain about.

Pros: Quite, clean, great breakfast very friendly staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms with all amenities in a great location with attentive management. Wonderful pool on site and a good breakfast service each morning. Beautiful modern bathrooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole hotel was gorgeous. Our room opened out onto the pool and the furnishings (in the room and common areas) were so pretty. Beds were super comfy and the shower was great. Everybody at the hotel was very friendly and helpful too, even organising our transport back to San Jose for us. We loved our stay here, wish we were staying longer.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Superb hospitality and recommendations from Marie and staff! It was great having purified water and ice at our disposal as well. Nice, modern, clean rooms.
Cons: WiFi was not the best
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - the stuff (Marie and her crew were amazing!) - the location (5min walk from the main street). - the overall cleanliness. - the facilities. - the room. - the attention to details
Cons: Nothing. It was really great!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and ideal location. We were able to borrow gear, beach chairs and a cooler free of charge!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, classy, close to downtown Tamarindo and beach but felt more quiet and secluded than the busy town. Loved the location! We spent a lot of time at the hotel as it was very peaceful and beautiful.
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Concept of adult only was great. Friendly staff and the highlight was morning breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Small calm oasis right in the heart of Tamarindo. Great small pool in the center of the little complex and great communal seating area. Fab breakfast! My favorite thing about this property was that they are super environmentally conscious
Cons: Nothing to dislike
5.5 Okay
Pros: The decoration and the employee (man)
Cons: The location was not bad, but I do not recommend it, there are many hotels next to the beach and not much more expensive than this one. The service that gave us, the owner, or at least the manager left a lot to be desired, we had a plane and we asked her if it was possible to advance the breakfast 15 minutes, to which she said no. It is a very expensive place for the service they have, for me that kind of service is for places more crappy.

Pros: Personalized experience. good facility. close to town.
Cons: Slightly older facility
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything!!! The staff was very friendly specially the guy who made our Mexican breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, small boutique hotel with great service. Location is wonderful, easily accessible to restaurant, shops and beach.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were upgraded to a fabulous suite , so contemporary, clean and secluded. Pool area was so tastefully presented with the tropical shrubs surrounding ,encouraging indigenous wildlife. Best breakfast of the four hotels we staying at in Costa Rica
Cons: We didn’t eat dinner here as wanted the evening atmosphere of Tamarindo, I didn’t think the lunch menu gave much variety ... but i grasping to find fault !!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Cala Luna is located in the nicest part of Tamarindo, precisely in Langosta, a less touristy and crowded area which is quiet and safe; the facility is simply fabulous, from the chic simple beach tropical decor to the architecture and the lush landscape, the flora and fauna are amazing and the staff is very kind and helpful. The food is all around very well prepared, using a lot of local products from organic farms. The seafood is incredibly fresh. My family fell in love with this place, we would love to come back !
Cons: The only thing I would say were a bit not disappointing but I wished more attention was paid, was ( i guess it was due to the fact that different people taking care of the rooms) the lack of attention to details. The first day the room was done amazingly, they even left fresh flowers and arranged the towels in a beautiful way, the next days it seemed some towels were missing ( didn't t get replaced with clean ones), some glasses we used the night before were not removed and replaced with clean ones, so were the coffee cups and additional coffee bags...a little sloppiness- i have to say that the room and bath were always clean but the fact that the dirty glasses were not replaced annoyed me some. Also in the pool area and lunch restaurant plates and glasses would be left by tables for a bit too long ( considering that there was plenty of staff walking around tending to the guests...)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nothing, but the location was not the ideal
Cons: The hotel was perfect in every way
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was beautiful, tranquil and so pleasant! All staff was wonderful. The food here was amazing and the atmosphere was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff on every level. Wonderful food! Will be back. We love Cala Luna
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were spacious, clean and either new or recently updated. I particularly loved the bathtub in the bathroom. It was very unique, clean and comfortable. The pool and restaurant area was beautiful and a pleasant place to relax. I also loved all the jungle plants located throughout the resort. Excellent staff as well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything from the staff to the services and the locations. Their attention to details was amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The room was incredible. Air conditioning worked great. Staff was amazing. Breakfast was nice and free sunset cocktails on beach was a nice touch. $5 taxi into town or you can rent golf cart or take bikes. Out of the action of the city for privacy but close enough to go in if you want.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff and a genuine boutique feel at the hotel sets it apart as one of the finest places I have ever stayed. The staff are attentive but never too much so. They have the balance just right. What’s more, the food is the best In Tamarindo and beats any restaurant in the town itself for both value and quality. In fact, Cala Luna’s restaurant was one of the best in which I have ever eaten anywhere in the world.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was great, prefect location, chilled, comfortable, clean, great staff, and value for money during our stay was outstanding. Wish I'd stayed longer. Just perfect.
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great. Rooms were clean, location excellent.
Cons: The lady working the front had a can't-be-bothered attitude that was off-putting. I ended up paying more than $150/night and probably could have stayed closer to the beach for that price.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Arco Iris is well planned and very well kept. Really, the room was simple but immaculately cleaned daily, and the walk-in shower is just what I needed after all day at the beach. My bungalow (#6) had blackout curtains that let me sleep in as late as needed. Breakfast was the typical Costa Rica fare (rice, eggs, papaya, pineapple, coffee etc) and solo traveling I had a chance to chat with the owner Richard and other folks beside the pool. The beach is just down the road, and while you could find a place closer, for me this one checked all the boxes of convenience, comfort, cleanliness, etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds of the hotel were beautiful gardens. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was delicious.
Cons: Nada! Everything was great.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved my bungalow. Especially the bathroom. Staff and Richard very helpful. Would stay again
Cons: Found it hard to dislike anything.
10.0 Excellent

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were clean. Private nice for couples
Cons: Far from beach. Need to work on the very simple breakfast menu
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Richard and staff were extremely helpful & friendly. Their breakfast is also delicious.
Cons: I would recommend posting safe directions in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything at this hotel!!!! Best staff, great friendly owner. Wonderful breakfast. Our room was cleaned everyday to perfection. You can’t beat the location easy 2 min walk to every thing. I highly recommend this place. They booked our activity for us and gave us the best recommendations. They take such good care of you like you are their family!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Arco Iris had a great feel to it. The pool is very nice. Richard is a super cool guy and is extremely friendly. We had to leave at 4:00 am to catch our flight and Richard gave us some fruit, muffins, and juice. He offered that up without us even asking. We were very happy with the location. You are just far enough from the noise of the main street, but still able to walk to everything. The beach is maybe a 5 minute walk. There is a walking path from the hotel to a road with tons of great restaurants. If you feel like staying in for a nice meal, they lease their dining space to one of the best restaurants in Tamarindo, Seasons by Shlomy. We traveled to 4 different cities in Costa Rica and this hotel was our favorite by far.
Cons: The air conditioner in our room was kind of weak. It worked a little better at night. We weren't around much during the day so it didn't bother us much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very nice

Cons: It’s super mellow and almost every room is poolside.

Pros: Perfect pool for us and the kids. Close to SuperMarket. Easy to the beach. Good value for money!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was quaint, quiet and close to everything in Tamarindo. The ladies in the front office, Sofia and Samantha were wonderful. They helped book all of our excursions and truly went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved everything about this place. Excellent friendly, helpful staff from top to bottom. Perfect location for everything, restaurants, markets, and especially the beach are all very close walking distance. There's a mellow, tranquil vibe on the grounds ( there is a bar close by that plays music on weekends though, in case you hate noise). I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else while in Tamarindo. There's even a shared kitchen if you want to cook for yourselves. Great value.

Pros: Really good value. Quiet place. Good if you're travelling with smalls kids or older family members.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: The pictures on the web are way far from the reality. The bathroom smells like a sewer, no tile on the counter like the websites picture, paint falling of the walls and you can't flush toilet paper. I would never recommend this place.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Huge apartment with kitchen facilities, very clean, full bathroom plus 2 peice bathroom, and nice little patio.

Pros: Everything was great
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: The place was disgusting, I should had listen to reviews bout rooms not being clean but I gave it the benefit of doubt. First the pillows had hair on them, the towels in the bathroom were like stain with paint or something and worse part is the bathroom smelled like week old sweaty clothes( not exaggerating). There was a shirt hanging on curtains from previous guest. There was a fridge but it didn't work! I left the place, there was no way I could sleep there let alone shower and use those towels. The pics are deceiving and I don't know who reviewed this place but my experience was. Awful!

Pros: This is an excellent hotel in a quiet location at the very end of the beach. We stayed in a room with the big balcony and we fell in love with it instantly. Alexia, who is running this place is a lovely person and is taking a good care of this place. Our room was clean and the bathroom spacious with nice fancy cosmetics provided. Bed very comfortable and big. The breakfast was included and made with love. Freshly baked croissants, crunchy baguette, freshly pressed juice, coffee, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and even the waffles as a treat from Alexia. The terrace in front of the hotel facing the beach is an amazing place to relax, super tidy and harmonic. Plenty of space to park your car in front of the hotel. 8.2 Excellent
Pros: Great rooms, comfortable, modern, clean, nice pool, monkeys on the grounds!
Cons: The only real issues is that all night there was pounding music I guess from a bar or club near by? Not sure where came from, but it was really loud and made it almost impossible to sleep, even with ear plugs.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was spacious, and we had plenty of space to put our luggage and other stuff. There was an airconditioning - a must in such a hot place as Tamarindo, and also a lovely garden with a pool, tables, chairs and monkeys. The place is close to all major attractions of Tamarindo, but there is a feeling of being a bit off town, which is nice.
Cons: They could have included a minor breakfast for this price
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: The cleanness and the building was very old and I think they should invest in painting at least
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Rooms too small
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff! We were upgraded to a larger room for no reason. Close to everything, though Tamarindo is small anyway. Good local food advice from staff.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff were nice, the pool was great and the place is fairly close to the beach and some fun bars but at the same time just far enough to avoid some of the noise.
Cons: Disappointed with the room, pictures made it look much nicer, it was pretty dirty, the sink barely works and the kitchen facilities were lacking, the stovetop didn’t work because the propane line leaked (shout-out to the security guard for fixing it for us though which was awesome) as a budget hotel room this place would be fine, but it’s over priced in my opinion.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect, the pool area is lovely, there have been monkeys and iguanas wandering about. The price is reasonable and the a/c works well.
Cons: The bathroom door is louvered so there is lack of privacy and the beds are hard. More water pressure in the shower would be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gabriella was very accomodating with the breakfast option and we were able to eat gluten and dairy free with no extra charge. She also included my daughter’s breakfast which we greatly appreciated. She was very helpful with our shuttle to & from the airport. Even helped us save money by changing our money to U.S. last minute. All the staff at Bodega restaurant were amazing! The cleaning ladies were very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed! A wonderful experience. I highly reccomend !
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was nice , clean and roomy.
Cons: The water pressure in the shower and sink was so low that we couldn't take a shower. We had to fill up water bottles and splash on us in order to take a shower. We didn't even wash our hair after being at the beach because we knew we won't be able to remove the shampoo from our hair.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Nahua was great. The kitchen was well equipped. The air conditioning worked very well. It is right across the road from the bank and several bars and restaurants. Grocery store next door. Minutes to the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would defiantly go again!!!!!
Cons: Better lighting in the room would be good.

Pros: Loved the hotel and staff
Cons: Found room to not be very clean, stains on the blanket so didn’t use it and shower had grime on the floor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the food, the rooms, and the property were so lovely and charming! Paola was so helpful and a gracious host. We would recommend Hotel Flores to anyone visiting Tamarindo.
Cons: Nothing!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property! The pool and garden are absolutely incredible, the location was amazing, super close to everything in Tamarindo. Breakfast was also fantastic! She even made us to go breakfast on days we had to leave early! Air conditioning was powerful on those hot days!
Cons: The shower pressure was close to nothing but the water was hot. We lost power on several occasions but that wasn’t the hotels fault it was just annoying because they can’t cook when that happens. The cleaning services basically was just him making your bed and mopping the floor. I would’ve like clean towels daily and maybe a sheet change.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is like a small Italian villa with a lovely courtyard pool. The family managers were great to deal with and the breakfasts were very nice. The location in town is ideal.
Cons: If it were right on the beach that would be fantastic but would be three times as expensive. It was good value for what you got.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a great small hotel, near the main downtown. A quiet place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived Walter met us with a smile and helped us with our bags. We stayed at the Hotel Flores for a week, our first trip to Taramindo. We stayed in the small apartment on site. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a very nice outside sitting area over looking the pool. It was extremely private and quiet!! The breakfast was delicious with lots of great choices. Paulo, the owner, and Walter both get five stars!! Every morning when we were at breakfast Walter slipped into the room and it was all made up by the time we returned!! The location was excellent close to the beach, a tiki bar across the street and a wonderful Italian restaurant next door!! What more could you want?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was great and the hotel is amazing! The staff is super nice. The breakfast was is really good.
Cons: I would add an early breakfast option for people taking tours or buses.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location in town great for walking everywhere. Food on property. Yummy. Pool area beautiful.
Cons: WiFi is spotty but that is so most places we went. It was best out by pool. Room furnished but not upscale. Comfortable. Bathroom basic-not updated.
6.3 Good
Pros: A basic B&B with nice location in Tamarindo. The room was equipped with an effective AC and a fridge. High speed internet available and good car parking. Nice breakfast in the morning and it was always a pleasure to be served by the friendly personnel.
Cons: The cleaning was not OK, especially not in the bathroom. internet was fast but WIFI was poor (swaying). You have to expect that you are in Costa Rica with a lot of wildlife such as birds singing, raccoons fighting and noisy monkeys, all this during night and morning hours.
7.5 Good
Pros: The small pool and gardens were pleasant. The owner takes pride in her hotel and keeps it in good condition. We felt private and safe there.
Cons: We were given free bottles of water without explanation there could be a temporary issue drinking the tap water in Tamarindo due to public sewer work. The hotel is charming and clean but the street is gravel and dusty during windy season.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very friendly and accommodating host. Great breakfast and coffee to start the day with.

Pros: They man who runs the front desk is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were very nice and opened up to a lovely courtyard. I highly recommend La Palapa.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is superb. Right in front of the water. The owner is very nice and attentive, as are the waiters and staff in general. They have good food and amazing breakfast. Loved it. It's located walking distance from the hubbub of Tamarindo.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel La Palapa has wonderful staff that was so accommodating. The location was amazing as well. I saw a lot of hotels and we were so glad that we stayed where we did. The hotel management and cleaning staff were amazing! The accommodations were comfortable and so adorable. We very much enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and walking to the market.
Cons: We had no complaints other than we wish we had packed a candle for mosquitos on the patio.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, great restaurant, great staff Brian, Henry, Michael ETC. highly recommend this place.
Cons: No complaints whatsoever which is rare for me :)
7.5 Good
Pros: Rolando was very friendly and helpful! The location right on the beach was great! The room itself was spacious and comfortable and had a kitchenette. It was nice to sit in the chairs or the hammocks and watch the sunset! Parking was included.
Cons: Although the hotel is beachfront, there is a restaurant in front of the hotel. And there are a lot of palm trees. So you don't really have a beach view from the room. It is still a nice palm tree view, but just not what we expected. Also, there was a lot of mosquitos in the room. I expected there to be mosquitos in the area because of the beach, but I didn't expect there to be a lot of mosquitos in the room itself. Definitely bring bug spray!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, price and very friendly staff!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is suberb, 10 steps away from the beach and the sea and in the middle of Tamarindo. Really nice relaxed atmosphere. Really cool surf lessons on the hotel site (La Palapa Surf) Our kids of 9 & 11 slept good at the beds, but for larger kids it is kind of small upstairs, so I would reccomend a second room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect. Nice to be near the beach keeping your belongings safe at the hotel and you can just run back if you need anything. Loads of good restaurants within 5 minutes walk
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beachfront access says it all. If you’re looking for luxury not my first choice but not bad. That said, very nice and clean hotel/bungalow to have a romantic stay in.
Cons: Privacy and local hustlers(bird whistles, beads, etc)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was light but that's ok, dont need to eat too much! room was fab!
Cons: the music battle between the hotels beside the hotel. but i wasn't there to party, i was there to zen out. i still zenned out :)
7.5 Good
Pros: Great Location. LaPalapa restaurant was very nice.
Cons: Bathroom was a bit strange, low ceiling (6' 4" maybe), no fan and no hot water in the sink. I didn't know that that the loft (where my son slept) ceiling was going to be only 5' high so it was a bit of an issue for a regular size adult (my son is 22). Maybe 12 year old kids would have been OK.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The grounds are great, right on the beach and landscaped accordingly. The loft arrangement for the bed is a bit of a challenge if your night was a bit wild or you have knee issues, but I still love this place. Third stay. Staff is great - friendly and helpful.
Cons: See above. That’s the only issue.

Pros: Everything was wonderful! Luna Llena was a total treat. Staff was very kind and eager to help if we had a question. I would stay there again happily.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool is amazing!
Cons: The shower water went from hot to cold multiple times during one shower.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: The entrance sign is completely blank. We passed the place three times and finally found it after asking neighbor. This spoiled the first impression. The room and pool were nice. Had to be moved because toilet didn’t flush in first room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Luna Llena was perfect for our family of 3 with an 8 year old. Walking distance to everything was perfect. The owner helped us with info and booking a catamaran. We loved it!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was very nice. We are a family of five and the bungalow that we rented was comfortable enough for the five of us. We’ll definitely go back. The stuff was really nice too.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great. Got you ready to surf all day long.
Cons: The bed. Hard as a rock. I like firm but this was just uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Luna Llena is in a great location. A little bit outside of town but still right next to everything. We were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant for dinner. The pizza, pasta and salads were quite good. We also think the best cocktails of our trip were here - all fresh fruit. Amazing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely bungalow, great pool and nice surroundings. Friendly staff in a nice relaxing environment. Good little breakfast included. Short walk to beach and town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely complex near town and beach. Lots of restaurant choices. Beautiful pool. Howler monkeys,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt like we had the place to ourselvea.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel Luna Llena was amazing we were traveling with a 8 month old so we really enjoyed the quiet setting, just a block away from the beach and the main part of Tamarindo, we had a car rented but didnt have to drive unless we left town. Clean rooms and friendly staff we stayed in bungalow 6, it had a loft with two twin beds and the main floor had a king bed with a kitchen and bathroom. Cable TV, we don't speak spanish but was good to have cartoons for the little one. All the rooms are centered around the pool offering food and drinks from noon-3 and 6-9PM. The landscaping was very nice, providing privacy, quiet and just a calm vibe, very relaxing, we enjoyed spending time there.
Cons: Wifi signal was weak in the room, good around the pool. Beds were a little too hard for our liking.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our favourite hotel in Costa Rica, very clean, beautiful and amazing value! We will be back
7.5 Good
Pros: The property is conveniently a 5 minute walk to Tamarindo beach and restaurants but far enough from the noise of the main Street. Hotel has a nice pool and lush landscaping. The food was ok. I had the garlic shrimp which was over cooked. My son had the fish and chips which was quite greasy. However, the restaurant staff at dinner and breakfast were friendly and pleasant. The air conditioned room was clean and the beds comfortable. Hotel Pasatiempo is a small quaint hotel with friendly staff. Will recommend to those visiting Tamarindo.
Cons: Food could be improved.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Definitely pay extra for the breakfast to be included. More cost effective than eating outside the hotel or paying to eat there per day
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and informative staff, especially the bar tender! Beautiful pool area with lots of tropical trees and plants. A family of monkeys were often hanging out in the tree above the hotel entrance which was fun observe.
Cons: Had to pay breakfast cash since it wasn’t included in my reservation (no credit card). But that was written on their reception wall..so just a heads up rather than a complaint. Food was quite good (especially the tuna tartare), but not many healthy/nutritious options on the menu. Would be nice if they added some.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We didn't have the breakfast, We liked our room, staff was friendly and helpful. Location was good.
Cons: It would be nice to have a small fridge.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Position in Tamarindo
Cons: The room
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool. Small size. close to the beach. decent price ($124 for 3 people in Nov, including breakfast) Nice staff.
Cons: breakfast was okay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was a close walk to shops and beaches and also provided a quiet peaceful place if wanted.
Cons: No complaints
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean... very very clean. And a very decent size, I was surprised by the size of the room and bathroom compared to the photos, it seemed bigger in person. The room was well decorated and very comfortable. The bed was cozy and comfy but still firm enough for me who has an issue with mattresses that are too soft. The pillows and comforter were great as well, no different than you would find at a well known hotel chain. Soap, shampoo (I think) and basic amenities were provided. We had our own shampoo so didn't notice. A blow dryer was there but no iron or ironing board in the room, this was not an issue for us as we carry a travel steamer. Maybe you can request it if you need to iron something, I did not ask. A safe was also provided and was bolted securely to the concrete wall. The location of our room was great also, just off from the pool which we liked. We could see the pool from the patio of our room but not be bothered by other guests at the pool. Each room has its own little patio area with chairs and plants around the entrance giving decent privacy to the patio. You feel like you have your own little oasis. The check in procedure was great, just a quaint little office at the front but had a cool family owned and ran kind of vibe. Toni and JC were awesome and very informative, they kept our bags from early in the morning and even offered to left us use all the facilities in the compound if we wanted to while we waited on our room. At our request they arranged a massage for my wife on our little patio area, which she said was one of the best massages she had ever had and they arranged our airport transfer for our flight out, good enough car and we got there in great time at a decently cheaper rate than we or any of our friends paid from the airport when we had arrived. The hotel is also perfectly located, just feet from the start of the main town area, directly opposite a big supermarket and 6 mins walk from the beach.
Cons: The only downside for us, having just one night in the hotel at the end of our trip, is that we had planned to wake early and relax by the pool to soak in the last of the sun and take in the gorgeous surroundings of the hotel pool area before leaving for our flight, however the hotel was spraying for bugs and we had to leave, alas, no nice pool time for us. We hadn't been warned or told of this when booking or checking in so we had to grab our stuff and go to the beach instead... and the tide was out. My wife got to lay in the sun and I made do with the low water but we really wish we had had the opportunity to enjoy the pool or had been warned about the spraying to plan more efficiently for the last bit of time we had in Costa Rica. We ended up checking out by the pool with the bug mist around us as the office was being sprayed. The main issue with the room I would have to say was the water pressure in the shower. The pressure was so low that even though the shower was large you still had to stand right up to the wall and even then there wasn't enough pressure to cover your body.Hit my elbow a couple times. Maybe they should install the shower heads in the centre of the shower above you rather than the wall. However, having stayed at other places in this location I found this to be fairly common, this was the lowest pressure of all though, but still common. I think it may be due to Costa Rica's clean power initiative, so potentially places here do not use pressure pump systems to save on electricity, no idea. Also, there's no fridge in the room for left over food, again, probably a power saving concern and we weren't there long enough for this to be an issue for us. Longer stays would probably find the to b an inconvenience. These still weren't big enough issues for us to give any less of a score for our visit, the hotel and staff deserve a perfect score for our experience.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Grounds are nice. Pool and bar nice.
Cons: My washroom had a bug nest, I think termites. All around the drinking cups. One of the pillows had blood stains. Expensive and wouldn’t go back. Don’t stay in 004.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel was in a nice location, I liked that it was a little bit out of the heart of the town, for a slightly more chill vibe. The restaurant was good and and the pool had lovely flora and fauna surrounding it - also the breakfast spot across the street (la bodega) is amazing!
Cons: For the price we paid (over $200 a night) the rooms were rather underwhelming. There was a nasty brown couch in our room that I didn’t want to get anywhere near, the fixtures were old and ratty and they gave the whole room an icky feel. The windows in the washrooms didn’t have covers and faces out to a parking lot, the window in the room didn’t have a proper cover either so I covered it with a towel. A few design updates would go a long way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really charming place and really helpful staff. Great value. WOuld go back for sure.
Cons: no complaints

Pros: Beautiful grounds, from the lobby to the dining area, pool and garden looking out on the beach. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. It was a wonderful stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything! Great location and view, great food both for breakfast and dinner, excellent and attentive staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendliest most welcoming staff in the whole world! The hotel is in a lovely setting, it is so clean, so friendly, the pool is beautiful, the gardens are exquisite , the food is fantastic, breakfast is wonderful, the waiters really make you feel special, and the beach garden area with bar, plunge pool and WiFi is fabulous.
Cons: I like EVERYTHING!
4.5 Okay
Pros: The staff at the restaurant were amazing. They were always so nice to us.
Cons: When we complained to the front desk staff bout the deep tissue massage that wasn't "deep tissue" they were very rude to us, and they continued to be rude to us for the rest of our stay. And the hot tub in our room smelled. I don't know how often they cleaned it. It wasn't worth paying extra for.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous views as you enter the hotel, very friendly staff and enjoyed the food.. in particular the breakfast mimosas. Hotel staff upgraded our room on arrival which was nice and meant we had sun loungers on the terrace to relax on rather than needing to be by the pool. I went to the morning yoga once which was an excellent addition.
Cons: We felt the prices were a little expensive, particularly for things like bottles of water at dinner! ($8.50 for san pelligrino?!) and it would have been better if the gym facilities were in the Jardin del Eden rather than the Diria sister hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was beautiful. Very tropical nice pool beautiful restaurant area. Rooms were clean very friendly staff. There is beach access right across the street. The hotel has their own section of grass with a bar and a pool and plenty of lounge chairs. Beach is right there. The sunsets are gorgeous. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. I am vegan and they accommodated me every dinner. Breakfast had fresh juices, fruit, toast, beans & rice etc etc. if you want a relaxing time stay here. BTW the path to the beach is also beautiful and soothing music. Bring bug spray (they have it too) lots of mosquito bites!
Cons: There is nothing really to complain about. The pool by the beach wasn’t as clean as the hotel pool. That’s about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great boutique hotel with lovely and nice staff. Dinner was included (3 courses) and every night we had something different and very tasty. Location is great, with a nice access to the beach private garden.
Cons: I missed a fitness center. As a boutique hotel, at least a cardio room, should be part of their services. Breakfast could be a bit better and with more options like meat or a hot section as part of the buffet.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast and dinner here was delicious and amazing! The hotel grounds were also absolutely beautiful and everyone was so friendly and helpful.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was phenomenal. The facilities were always clean. The beach front private space was amazing. The adults only was a great touch!
Cons: The pillows were awful.

7.0 Good
Pros: The people were nice / rooms were good.
Cons: The food good have been better plus the pool was dirty.
6.8 Good
Pros: I liked the all inclusive aspect of the resort. For $130 per night for two people it is definitely -worth it.
Cons: There was a crab and a centipede in our room. The room smelled funky.
6.3 Good
Pros: Receptionist Kenny was very helpful. Lively vibe!
Cons: Big property with a lot of people! Overall tired looking hotel that needs more housekeeping staff to bring the standard up to its 4 star rating. Cleanliness not what it should be for this rating. Towels taken on a daily basis and not replaced, had to go to reception and ask for replacements. Noisy and overcrowded. Leads on to the beach but lots of vendors there trying to sell tours, goods etc, very intimidating. Moved to another hotel
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good place with good facilities, I heard about the bad rooms, but we had a very good one, pretty much the same with what we’ve got in a previous all inclusive. (building 4 btw) Food was good enough, short menu but good at taste. In general, it’s a good place to party with friends, not that good for romantic purposes.
Cons: In the bar, I noticed some people asking for a lot of drinks per turn, which delays all the process. Personnel very kind excepting for a person the first day in the reception which seemed to be having a bad day
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Wi-Fi is not included, costs $12 per day and it is only available in some rooms.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff is the best part of my experience. Really. Edwin, Carol, Grace, kenny, Tatiana....and more. They all made the stay so fun, friendly and a learning experience. Thank you.
Cons: The cleanliness and cosmetic of the room
7.0 Good
Pros: Pool was great and the kids loved it, entertainment staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: Felt the majority of the staff weren't that focussed on the guests and weren't happy to be there. Rooms were tired and could do with an update.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were big and comfortable, pool and beach we’re great to visit everyday. Food was delicious.
Cons: The roof got flooded in a heavy storm outside our door, need better drainage
7.0 Good
Pros: most everything was satisfactory.
Cons: more variety of food. when drink lines get long, need to single out beer only line. Dinner seemed to be rice and beans every night. Room was dirty, had to beg for towels and washcloths. We are in our 60’s with bad knees and on the 3rd floor many steps to go up and down.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The pool and the location.
Cons: With the exception of Randall, bellman, the staff was uniformly indifferent bordering on rude. The food was terrible and the service no better. The hotel was under construction in the main restaurant and in the parking lot across the street which I wasn't aware of prior to my stay. There was no peace and quiet anywhere you went and not just from the construction - also from grounds maintenance. The property is beachfront, but it is split across both sides of a very busy main street so if you stay poolside you will have to cross the street. Also, we went during the rainy (low) season so the adults only pool was essentially closed - no service whereas the family pool (which was nice) had service but if you wanted an adult beverage you HAD to contend with the family pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly especially Irene front desk, Bernie out front. Ck our on 20 Jun front desk very helpful.
Cons: WiFi rooms across the street bad reception.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Access to the beach
Cons: I wish the air conditioners were a little cooler
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The resort provided an excellent breakfast. There were a variety of items that were all very good. I thoroughly enjoyed that the resort was not extremely crowded. I can't comment enough on the excellent staff. The staff was extremely friendly spoke excellent English and did everything possible to enhance the quality of our stay. A great experience! Pools were clean and property was well maintained
Cons: My only disappointment with breakfast was the fruit was not as sweet as I expected. I also thought it would have been nice to have screens on the sliding door to the balcony. Maybe a few more English stations on the cable tv. The WIFI was generally good but there were periods where it was not available in the room.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff was nice but could have been a little more friendly. Tour desk staff was amazing. The grounds were beautiful. Security was good. Over all decent stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a beautiful place, right on the beach and very easy to get around!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast food could be a better selection instead of the same food each and every day.
Cons: The variety of food at breakfast could be changed. Fried eggs, eggs Benedict Or sausages could be added to the menu
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Prime location on the beach.
Cons: Room we originally booked not available because part of hotel was under construction.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, surfing, tour organizing, pools
Cons: Kids club would be great
4.3 Okay
Pros: Great location and beach. Good for learning to surf and walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Cons: The resort was under construction during our stay. The pool was right next to the construction and on the path to the beach. Probably the best resort on Tamarindo beach but did not meet expectations for $400/night for 2 small queen size beds near a busy road. There are no activities at the resort. It’s more like vacation rental than a resort. They allow horses and dogs on the beach. No clean up of horse poop.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Resort was very nice and in a great location. Room was clean and right on the beach. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Cons: No guests are allowed in rooms.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Always love its location!
Cons: Construction was goin in from 6:30 in the morning to sunset. We were staying right next to it. We should have been warned or discounted rooms offered. $425 a night shouldn’t have to deal with the mess, inconvenience and mostly noise!!!
