Got taken advantage of!
I booked a 6 bed mixed dorm via booking.com. I arrived at the hostel and was told that the hostel was overbooked. Turned out the owner had 3 ladies staying in the mixed dorm and promised them that no guys would stay there. So 3 of us guys had to sleep out in the courtyard (yes, the courtyard!) on sofas. Best deal of all was he charged us full price! He told us that all hotels were full and that we were out of luck. The courtyard was real noisy and I couldn't fall asleep until 2:30AM. I kept asking the receptionist to quiet the guests in the courtyard to no avail. I had a long drive the next day and was angry and nervous that I would be too tired to drive.
