The main attraction to the area and the hotel are the hiking and biking trails at Slide Rock State Park, Devil’s Bridge Trail, and Coffee Pot Rock, all within a short drive from the hotel.

The amenities offered on-site are small but convenient. There is a seasonally heated outdoor pool and a year-round outdoor hot tub, both offering views of the red rocks in the distance. Also on-site is a compact gym and a small business center with just enough equipment to do quick business. Free WiFi is available, as is breakfast, plus the concierge services is great for advice on the area and offers discounts to local restaurants and attractions.

The rooms at the hotel are bland but feature Sedona Dream pillow-top mattresses, armchairs, large flat-screens, a mini-fridge, coffeemaker, and kiva-style fireplace. Not within walking distance of the main area of town where all the restaurants, shops and galleries are, but each room has a porch or balcony with a beautiful view of red rocks. Room was spacious, and handicapped accessible, with large roll-in shower, and ramps to get to slightly elevated first floor rooms. Breakfast starts at 7:30. Pros (+) This was our second stay at the Southwest Inn. We like the room size (2 queens but still a good amount of space to move around) and the bathroom area is oversized with double sinks and plenty of counter space. Breakfast is good. Pros (+) Breakfast area was clean, food choices were healthy and fresh. Staff was was helpful, thorough and consistently friendly and willing to please. Rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. Great location for one day trips to enjoy the scenic, historic and natural beauty of the area without being in the main hub of downtown city.
