Great location, good value for money & nice staff. Bed also very comfy. On the whole I would book again.
Wi-Fi weak & bathroom very dated. Shower not very strong & plug too big for plughole, so unable to use the bath.
I love this hotel position.. strategy.. really enjoyed our time
Need small renovation
I love staying at Rila Hotel. I used to book much more expensive hotels in Sofia but because of the location, Rila Hotel became my best choice. The front desk staff is superb, very professional and efficient. The maids were also polite. The room was spacious, breakfast was included. Excellent value for money!
The breakfast was okay but the coffee was without any taste. The staff in the breakfast room was quite rude. Since I was sick in the morning, I struggled to eat my breakfast. I put what was left in a napkin to have it later. The lady who was in charge came and started shouting at me that I was not allowed to have it unless I eat it in the restaurant. She took my plate and utensils though I still had some watermelon in it. I tried to explain that I just took a medicine but she carried on shouting like I was stealing food. It was very embarrassing and in my opinion it was unacceptable for a member of the staff to behave like this. She should have explained quietly and politely what were the rules and the policy of the hotel, not trying to expose me in front of the other guests. The staff needs to remember that we are clients, not school children and we need to be treated with respect.
The hotel is in an up market area of Sofia surrounded by designer shops and fancy night clubs. My room had a balcony with stunning views of Vitosha mountain that dominates the Sofia skyline. It had good working air conditioning that is a must in summer as the temperature was over 30c. The hotel was exceptional value when you compare it to cities like Vienna, Berlin or London.
The lobby areas of the hotel are modern and feel fresh but the room seemed a little dated with the bathroom quite dark and in need of modernization. There is no room safes in the hotel but you can used the safety deposit boxes at reception.
big spacey room
the bed was hard, breakfast could be better
