Cons: The place is perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. The view from the open-air bath was breathtaking. We would love to come back again!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I was moved by the kindness of the staff. It would be something that any guest could relate to. On the sixth floor, there is Panoramaview's open air bath, which was very unique as a Ryokan. I highly recommend you to stay in this Ryokan. 職員さんたち ありがとう!
Cons: The room was a little undercleaning. Part of the room was covered with dust. But it was only a small part, and most of it was very clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: good services, good location, delicious food, friendly staff and good view.
Cons: nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The stuff is very helpful and friendly! You will get one to one service and feel extremely privileged. (Thank you for Emiko san taking care of me.) I love the facilities in the room, two hot spring bathtubs and a beauty machine to “steam face”. Also, I enjoy the public open Onsen on the 6th floor! Good for holiday trip!
Cons: No. Just a bit far from the JR station but it is walkable distance.

7.5 Good
Pros: Room clean
Cons: We miss the dinner and no refund. Child and baby need to pay extra
10.0 Excellent
Pros: 1. Free pickup from the station, let the tourist information know and they can help you to contact them. 2. The room was so spacious! 3. Price included breakfast and dinner and they were good! 4. Hotel has a 3 hour plus tour to the 4 shrines but in Japanese. We FnE and returned to the bus at the given time. Can drop off at the train station at the end of the tour but we didn't as we had some pieces of luggage. But they took us to the station after we collected the bags. 5. Lake view but even better, just cross the road and there's the lake.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Of all the things we love about the hotel, the onsen, the private dining room for both breakfast and dinner, and the food really stand out. Needless to say, the service is top!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredible, so welcoming, professional and always there. The hotel itself was beautiful, spotlessly clean and just felt so very peaceful. My room was lovely, I'm glad I paid extra for a view of the lake, I sat looking out the window in the evenings. The food was incredible, so many different dishes that you could see loads of thought went into, they weren't all to my taste but I liked being able to try so many different foods. I wasn't brave enough for the public onsen but I did book the private one, it was so relaxing, I could have soaked in there for hours. I rented out a bike to cycle around the lake, the bike was very basic but cheap and got me around the 16km! The next day I also went on the free bus tour of the main 4 shrines in the area. My Japanese isn't great so I couldn't appreciate what our guide said but it was well organised and the shrines were beautiful. I would recommend Shinyu to anyone!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: staffs are friendly and helpful, wonderful dinner and breakfast, great onsen (both of private and public onsen), hotel locate next to lake Suwa so you can see beautiful view and go for a walk there.
Cons: a little bit far away from station but they have shuttle to pick you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was superb. Large variety of dishes. Excellent quality. Made a request to avoid certain foods by email. The staff were aware of it when we arrived. Very impresive. Highly efficient service. Wonderful onsen, both public and private baths. Were collected and returned to the station by hotel bus.
Cons: Everything was wonderful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very friendly and gracious. They took me to the local hot spring bath, and drives me to a beautiful park where could overlook the whole Lake Suwa. I borrowed a bike from the owners, and went around the lake. Generally, this hostel is full of Japanes atmosphere. Suggest for everyone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful service. Thank you, Megu, for picking us up from the airport! Breakfast was great. And thanks for the free bicycle!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Free onsen nearby, if you like old style Japanese house this is a nice place to stay.
Cons: Nothing special.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very relaxing and nice house; it was like being at home. Bathroom has a bathtub, and the kitchen has many appliances. There is also a kotatsu. Bicycle available for use made it easy to get around everywhere. Owner was very nice, offering drives to/from the station, and providing good suggestions on what to do.
Cons: A little far from restaurants and shops, but easily within biking distance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed mid week and had the whole place to ourselves. Was able to get picked up from the train station as well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warm, friendly accommodation, not only in the snow season.
Cons: nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Megumi speaks enough English to understand our requests. She is very friendly and kind. Free pick-up and drop-off at station. Free bike to use. House is tranditional Japanse style - very cool to see how Japanse live! Quite location on a small hill.
Cons: Indeed a bit far from downtown, but it was also great to bike in the town! Actually highly recommend to do so!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay, very clean and the owner was very nice! The room was big and the house is very cool. There is no bath in-house but a public one hour a two minute walk is a great experience. Overall this place is great and I enjoyed my stay. For anyone looking for a really “transitional Japanese experience” it’s a wonderful place to stay!
Cons: The location isn’t great, but the owner offered rides from the station and back there. And lends you a bike so as long as you don’t mind the bike it’s not bad. The futon was a bit hard but that’s futons for you.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners picked me up from the high speed bus stop at like 10 pm, which was so nice! The next day, I needed to catch a bus from Chino station early in the morning. They drove me all the way to Chino! It was actually more convenient than staying at a place near Kamisuwa station. The guest house owners were super friendly and warm! Also I got my own room, which was a steal considering the price. I found the futons comfortable. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Also the hosts provided me with some pastries and juice for breakfast, which I wasn’t expecting!
Cons: It was great! I honestly have no complaints. Maybe if you get woken up by light in the morning, it would be good to bring an eye mask, but I thought it was really lovely to be woken up by the sun and the chirping of birds.
6.3 Good
Pros: Price Kind host
Cons: Bed was very hard
Hotel Saginoyu - Suwa - Building

8.2 Excellent (571 reviews)
C$ 102+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Saginoyu in Suwa (Kamisuwa Onsen), you'll be steps from Lake Suwa and Katakura Hall. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really amazing, went beyong what anyone could wish for in respect of service. REally made a huge effort to ensure, I had a lovely stay.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great traditional style ryokan. Staff was always helpful, the meals were exceptional, and the room was comfortable. Location has both public baths and private showers, but I definitely recommend taking the public bath with the outdoor onsen.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: If you look at the price for a single room, and then look at the fact that this is an exclusive 4-star ryokan, you might wonder how it is possible. But here’s the deal: for the budget single bed, you get a small western-style room (en suite) at the very rear of the hotel, with a view of a parking lot. BUT, you also get unlimited access to one of the best outdoor onsens I have been to in Japan, access (either paid or free) to all other facilities, location RIGHT NEXT to Lake Suwa, and really helpful staff. It is DEFINITELY worth it, and if you want a bit more traditional Japanese luxury, then just go for one of the more pricey rooms. Also, free parking.
Cons: The fact that you are wearing outdoor shoes inside; this may make it easier for many gaijin, but to me, it just feels wrong when you are at a Japanese ryokan.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff, service and onsen facilities excellent. Dinner was surprisingly very mediocre. I would definitely return but not dine there.
Cons: See above
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Classic Japanese ryokan. Great hot springs with indoor and outdoor spas. Plenty of towels. Beautiful courtyards, pleasant lobby, friendly staff. Right by the lake. I hope to stay there again!

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean
Cons: Small
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff is friendly. Rooms are tight but clean. Next to a McDonalds and 7/11.
Cons: Check in time is 3pm and they charge JPY 1,000 for each hour that you want to check in earlier. Pretty bad when you arrive late morning after a red-eye flight from overseas. Even worse: Check out time is 10am! And same game trying to charge some extra Cash for each hour extra. This is the most restrictive early checkin/late check out policy that I've ever experienced in any hotel worldwide. Clear decision: Sorry, but never again!
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location with lots of eateries
Cons: The bed is too soft.. and the aircon function for heater is difficult to get a comfortable temperature.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and plenty space of free parking lot.
7.1 Good
Cons: Smoking rooom ‘s very bad weather.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location was fantastic being in the middle of everything a tourist will need
Cons: No English speaking staff, but someone did speak Mandarin which unfortunately I couldn't speak. Room was so small that moving around within even for 1 person was a little difficult and cramped

Pros: The place was very nice, the service was very good ! The onsen/sento was clean and so warm ! The room was big enough for 1 person and the bed was very confortable. Nice inn to stay for 1 night
Cons: They should add more toast for the breakfast
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Walking distance from train station and lake, front staff was very friendly and tried their best to communicate with machine translator, breakfast was good, set dinner was also in good money value but it would be good to eat at the breakfast lounge instead of delivery to room which had one chair only, a little dated hotel but room was clean and tidy, some restaurants and shops were nearby and had onsite parking.
Cons: Onsen was small and had no view but there was a historical and big one with fee charge just opposite to the hotel.

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Restaurant was good, both for dinner and breakfast. Plus beautiful view on the lake and mont Fuji from 10F restaurant.
Cons: Bedrooms are very small, smelling bad, not clean. The beds are too hard. The main road proximity makes the rooms noisy. Onsen is OK but not a real Onsen.

Pros: A surprise Complimentary dinner and breakfast voucher on our last night/ morning
6.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Poor restaurant, must do booking before been able to eat and when arriving late we are forced to eat outside, no one explain the restaurant policy before arrival. Food at breakfast is always the same, coffee is a disaster and buffet is replenished very slowly. Overall staff has poor English command. Rooms are okay
