Very heartwarming place, nothing was excellent but everything worked. Loved our room, a very spacey downstairs room with a small table. Didn't really need anything else. Close to the station, even closer if you cross the train lines somewhere between the station and the minshuku, but take care when crossing. If you are visiting Abashiri for a few days then consider checking out the Chipmunk Park! Had a lovely trip there and it healed my soul.
Not exactly the cleanest place but I've seen worse. Smells were sometimes interesting, but then again, this is an old house
For the price we paid, we weren't expecting much from the place, but it gets the job done. The place is run by a daughter-dad pair who spoke good English, so communication wasn't a problem. The building is old, but kept very clean -- no moldy or musty smell. Some guests may enjoy the rustic feel of the place.
There are only 2 toilets in the building -- something to keep in mind when there are many other guests staying.
The location is biased, the room has a musty smell and it is uncomfortable to live.
Really basic dormitory, run by very kind people. Just a few minutes from abashiri station you'll get a nice and clean room with tatami mats and a fuoton. It just feels like living an everyday life in Japan. The breakfast is a very delicious rosinbread self made by the owner and a pack of Hokkaido milk. It's really basic but that was exactly what I was looking for:) I felt more comfortable than in an impersonal hotel. The price just fits and the people are really heartwarming. If you're in abashiri I recommend an hour walk up Mt tento where the okhotsk drift ice museum and the museum of the ainu people is located.
Very nice and cozy hostel in Abashiri, highly recommended if you are looking for an experience akin to staying in a Japanese residence.
Location is further than what you might expect looking at booking.com's map since you will have to walk further down the main road in order to cross the train tracks. Also rather far from Abashiri's entertainment area.
With a stay at Minshuku Lamp in Abashiri, you'll be steps from Abashirikohan Onsen and a 2-minute drive from Abashiri Historical Museum. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
