We liked everything! The location and especially the friendly staff!
A very cosy family run hotel in a gorgeous setting. Our villa was very big and comfortable, the hotel garden was lovely and the dinner offered by hotel was very nice with fantastic views over a valley with a buffalo herd. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Our kids loved the puppies next to the play ground.
The big bed
They don't know the first thing about hospitality. The receptionist tells you strictly the necessary as if she recites a phonebook. The room isn't what you would call hygienic. The breakfast room is infected with bugs that crawl on the ceiling over your table.the breakfast us heavy and big but not good. The sheets were dirty. When we came back at 10 pm from the safari , the gate didn't open. There had been already difficulties with the gate ( we heard afterwards) and it just didn't open. We pushed the bell button to see if someone could open, finally the receptionist got on the phone and when I explained to her what was happening she just hung up. We then opened the motor of the gate and put it on manual. Luckily we have the same system at home so we knew how to solve it. The next day I talked to her about it and instead of an apology she was cross with me that I had woken her up. On top of this they counted R 200 per person more than the actual cost of the safari but again when mentioning this, I got " that's not true, you lie' eyes and excuses upon excuses but never an apology or a commercial gesture. No, honestly, better to pay a few R 100 more and be treated like a guest then to go to this penitentiary facility!
Very scenic. Lovely views. Beautiful landscape. Cottage was very comfortable for 4 people.
Supper was very good and tasty but very pricy.
The guest house is nicely located in the middle of nowhere, a 20-30 minutes drive from the Addo. The staff was very friendly. The cottage was huge, nice and cozy, and with pleasant views on the valley. The kids enjoyed the company of all the curious dogs and especially of the 5 puppies.
We were there possibly during the hottest days of the year and we suffered a bit of having the air conditioning only in the bedroom. An air con in the living room/kitchen/main area would be better since it would affect also those sleeping on the upper floor. We wanted to visit their farm/private reserve but it seems possible only with their vehicle and at certain times, which unfortunately did not fit us. Maybe a bit more flexibility would be nicely appreciate by the customers. We were invited to the special dinner running for Valentine’s day and we booked it but we found the food was nothing special. But it was of a reasonable price in any case (and since i am Italian, my standards may be higher than those of others :).
