Looking for quiet relax-beach time, we choose to stay at Pontal de Ubu Hotel in January 2019, and were delighted. We enjoyed breathtaking ocean views, given that it is on top of a small cliff, and overlooks Praia de Ubu on one side and a rocky beach on the other. Our room, on the second floor at the end of the hallway, was clean, spacious, and had practical counters, I was gleeful to set an area for our beach gear, another for reading materials, another for traveling stuff and still have a space exclusively for the meditation/prayer altar we carry with us. All their rooms have a balcony and a hammock. It was so relaxing to sit there to watch the seagulls fishing, and at the end of the day admire the sunset over the blue ocean. As I’m allergic to milk, prior to our arrival I informed the hotel, and although their breakfast buffet offer scrambled eggs, tapioca, cold cuts, boiled sweet potatoes, plantains, corn on the cob and a varied selection of fruits, breads, juices and beverages, each day they baked cakes without milk so that I could eat them. Thanks Chef!! On our first day, we ordered burgers from the “Lanche” menu, and at night, we sat at the hotel’s lovely gourmet area next to the pool that serves pizzas made in a wood oven; our Margarita pizza was delicious, we ordered it two days in a row. Additionally, a short walk takes you the beach side where there is plenty of restaurants and kiosks. We tried a family run kiosk called Refugio das Gaviotas; food was great, it had that ‘mom’s cooking touch’ and with tables right on the sand, shaded by the canopy of a wide tall tree, we let the time pass as we grasped the life of the locals. It was wonderful. All the staff (reception area, waiters and service) was friendly and accommodating.
Everything! The view, the pool, the location ,the room. If you are in doubt going there... just do it. It's something special with much attention for detail. Staff is also very helpful.
Restaurant opens late and had no pizzas
The sea views from the rooms' balcony are awesome. The two small trails from the hotel leading to the Ubu beach and village and the other to the beautiful rocks and deserted beach below the hotel.
The rooms, even the reformed ones, are pretty standard, notng to complain, nor praise.
