The staff was very nice and we got a free upgrade on our room (possibly because it was the first night of our honeymoon). The room was very nice with lovely clay tea set and windows across the back wall. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. Breakfast was very good as well.
Their website said that it had gluten free options but they didn't actually have gluten free options that I could eat. As some one with ceoliac disease, this was something I was really looking forward to and was one of the main reasons why I booked here... but since they use the same oil to fry chips and fish all of the potential "gluten free options" were cut down, even the burger had wheat in it, so my food choices were quite limited. They did buy some gluten free bread for breakfast after I asked them if they had it, which was nice. Otherwise the bathroom as quite worn with sunken areas that filled with water after taking a shower (there was one of those glass panels which was supposed to keep water in the shower).
This is a lovely old pub with lots of character with expected lovely quirks, in a pretty village. First class kitchen with a good menu, breakfast included with lots of choice. Very accommodating with our large hairy dog. Very friendly staff
Great old pub by a stream in a traditional Vale village, owned by the community and Freehold so not tainted by being one of the big chains. Cosy rooms and very welcoming, including to our dog. Comfy bed and warm duvet. All very cosy for an early Autumn stay.
Nothing not to like. Not perfect, but who wants perfection.
Comfortable, good food, friendly staff.
Authentic country pub with renovated rooms & nice public areas. A plus was having the lovely C12 th church of St.Cadocs right next door with beautiful wall paintings.
The property was quite hard to find particilarly at night.!!
