Can't knock it
Service courteous throughout. Room clean with fruit, tea & coffee. On top floor (3rd if I remember), I was not disturbed by the bar terrace. You need go no further than downstairs to wine & dine, but can find alternatives within 20 mins walk. Corridors look dated, but that gives it a 'Faulty Towers' charm. Nice hilltop location out of town centre bustle. Frequent buses to town only 2 Km away. All said, a nice city break for a singleton.
A great pad from which to explore Bristol
A basic no-nonsense stay, quiet, convenient location, everything provided with no problems. About 2 miles from town centre, Clifton is a tranquil urban area with scenic period houses & a vibrant main road. I never waited more than 3 mins for a bus to town centre, although the walk is refreshing. Breakfast is available in English, continental & healthy versions. Staff are very efficient & courteous. It's no Hilton, but it's perfectly clean & functional.
The ethos of Bristol is to keep it's originality & not become another clone town. It even has it's own currency, to keep the money in the community. It would be nice if this hotel were to employ local cleaners, to blend with this ethic.
The location of the hotel.
The hotel was very noisy with people banging the corridor doors in the middle of the night and drunk people singing in the corridors. The maintenance of the rooms was very poor. However, location of hotel was great.
Good size rooms
Far too hot in the rooms with limited temperature control
Location in bristol
I went to the Hotel to relax away from the presures of daily life. And found there was a wine bar/ cafe directly below my room which kept me awake.
