Fantastically peaceful location tucked in between the mountains of Mallorca with a large terrace in the front and an even larger garden and pool area in the back. The entire, well-maintained plot is sprinkled with (olive) trees, flowers and about a dozen different seating options for every time of the day and any kind of mood you might find yourself in. But what makes this place truly special are the hosts, Sabine and Heiko. They are among the finest and most kind hosts I've encountered anywhere in the world, from start to finish. During our stay, they displayed a sincere interest in our well-being during our time at the finca, as well as during our day trips. They always had a good idea to contribute that made our plans better than before. Additionally, they live up to their motto of not serving anything they wouldn't eat themselves - this reflects very deliciously in the breakfast you can expect in the morning. Aside from this, they offer small tapas in the afternoon, so you actually have the option of spending your whole day there. They also offer paella evenings on a regular basis. We were not able to take part during our stay, but came home later that evening to find about a dozen guests sharing wine, stories and laughter in a wonderful atmosphere and setting. To top it off, they also feature their own finca donkey, Tinto, who lives in his paddock right next to the driveway. For kids, or even grown-ups that for some reason love donkeys, this is a very special commodity you wouldn't be finding in the cement bunkers in the coastal regions. All in all, we can highly recommend this location for couples that want some downtime as well as families that are looking for a home away from home.
The only minor inconveniences are the missing air conditioning and the wifi that was not as consistent or powerful as hoped for. On the other hand, I was happy it wasn't that good because I then actually managed to put my phone away and live in the moment a bit more for a few days. If you're looking for a place to stay in your room and watch Netflix all day, this location is not for you in the first place. The missing AC is compensated with fans that do a fine job of keeping you cool at night. Should no medical reasons dictate otherwise, the lack of AC should not keep you from booking here.
- caring, personable hosts made us feel very comfortable and at home. - great breakfast to start the day - the picnic offer was really fun - beautiful location, perfect for hikes and discovering the tramontana range - being woken up by the donkey instead of an alarm clock
- the narrow, single lane sections of road on the drive up to the Finca can make it feel isolated, ie. 10-15 minutes' drive to the nearest restaurant. However, this is also the USP of Honor Vell, if it wasn't the case, the lovely peaceful valley would be overrun with tourists.
The hosts were amazing, the surroundings, the room, the whole stay was beautiful from start to finish. Not really any reason to leave, perfect for r&r. We can’t wait to come back again. Truly magical.
Breakfast was excellent and hosts were very welcoming. Beautiful location although we were unlucky with the weather. It is possible to walk directly from Honor Vell and there are some lovely restaurants in nearby Orient. Sabine does lovely snack food between 3pm and 6pm each day which was very welcome on our day of arrival. Check-in and check-out were smooth and friendly with a welcome drink on arrival. Our room/apartment was located at the rear of the property facing the dramatic mountains. It was extremely spacious and contained everything we needed with a lovely seating area in the garden outside.
Bathroom quite small so difficult to make-up in and no mirror or dressing table in the room itself.
Everything and the donkey in the garden :)
