We used the hotel for a spa weekend break and it filled the expectations nicely. The outdoor pool in the spa was a nice feature and the spa itself nice and not too busy. We booked a double attic room, so didn't expect any views (and there weren't) but the room was reasonably sized and bed comfy. Dinner in the restaurant was great. We didn't think ahead enough to pre-book the afternoon tea so getting that was a bit of a hassle but when we finally got it, it was good as well.
It's certainly not a budget place to stay in and when we had a problem with water tap in the bathroom, we had to switch rooms. The staff handled it nicely though, but the replacement room wasn't quite perfect (the rooms on the spa side are far more generic, the window frame in ours also had a small gap letting some "extra air" in) - but it was the last one available and still adequate.
The spa was really lovely! Beds very comfy overall the room and bathroom were great Most of the staff were very nice and helpful Dinner in the evening was excellent.
The afternoon tea! I told the waiter I did not eat fish, he said he would bring me two extra finger sandwiches to replace the salmon. They never arrived! We had a glass of champagne to start and asked that our Tea to be brought later with the scones, it was brought immediately! I sent it back! Overall the waiter wasn’t very attentive and kept forgetting things. The afternoon tea was quite expensive and I have had better in many other hotels .
Beautiful hotel and staff are very accommodating and polite, will return
