GoodMay 20106.3
Arrived early on a Saturday when dining room was full of happy looking eaters but hotelier and staff welcoming and obliging even though they were busy. Room was fine if a little ornate. Got the impression that this was better known as a restaurant rather than a hotel. Most would probably find it too far to walk to the nearby pretty fishing village of Cudillero.
The hotel guest menu looked appealing, especially as it included white wine and mineral water but it was only after I ordered that I realised my first course of mussels came in a full sauce amounting to a soup and that the second "vizcaina" cod course also came in the same sauce and in huge quantities so i couldn't finish the meal. Despite the name I think they could offer more non-fish alternatives. Also at breakfast every table got a huge plate of ham, cheese, cakes, bread etc which no one table was able to consume; it would be far less wasteful to provide a buffet where people could help themselves to the amount they wanted.

Very friendly host. Our room was large, well furnished, and clean. Food was very good if a little on the expensive side by comparison.
No separate inside lounge or bar area. No other restaurants/facilities within easy walking distance, although not far by car.
