Overview

In the centre of the Thuringian capital, the Best Western Plus Hotel Excelsior, Erfurt, Germany, is a family-friendly hotel a short walk from the old town and the main station, with comfortable rooms, free Wi-Fi, four conference rooms, a hotel bar serving cocktails and snacks, and an in-house sauna for relaxing after a day out. The old town, the cathedral hill and the shopping streets are all within a stroll, with the station close by for day trips across Thuringia. Squares and bridges fill the old centre. Erfurt is the well-kept capital of Thuringia, an old city of merchant houses and church towers in the green centre of Germany. The Kramerbrucke, a bridge lined end to end with little shops and houses, is one of the longest of its kind in Europe, the cathedral and the church of St Severus rise side by side above a grand square, and Martin Luther studied here as a young monk. Wooded hills and the Thuringian Forest lie close by.
