My room was left unlocked by housekeeping all day. I had a £2000 laptop in there plus my car keys. My room opened up onto a courtyard where people were drinking and had direct access to my room.
The staff were great
The breakfast was OK.
Myself and my husband were promised a room on the 1st floor due to me having a bad hip and knee and stairs are difficult. We asked to be next to our friend in Room 2 and we thought we would be in Room 1.However even though we asked for a change of room the Manageress just offered us a cold, damp room outside. Then she offered us a room at the very top of the hotel even though there were other rooms available. We were put in Room 4 which was absolutely horrendous. We were in the eaves and could hardly stand up.There was a VERY small bathroom and a bath in the room which we could not get into as it was so high and under the eaves. We could not have a bath/shower while we were there - for 2 nights!!! We had one small window with pigeons outside and lots of droppings - very close to the room - it was disgusting and probably a health risk. There was no wardrobe just 2 wooden pegs to hang our clothes on.There was a tatty chest of drawers - we put clothes on top of it and then they were covered in dust when we removed them. The room was also dark - it was very claustrophobic and it was hard to find our clothes. We had asked for a 'comfort' room at an extra £100 but there was no comfort whatsoever. In the very small bathroom there was just a small mirror on the side wall so we couldn't see anything. The brochure stated 'sumptuous feather duvets' but our duvet and pillows were lumpy polyester. The stairs were quite dangerous especially for someone not so agile. We only had one chair in the room - we had to ask for an extra one. There was no socket by the bed,no ironing facilities,no cable channels - as stated.Nobody answered the phone. The room was often cold.We only had 2 traditional tea bags and they weren't replenished. The wooden floor was extremely noisy and squeaky. We could go on and on.......but there are very similar reviews, particularly of this Room 4,on various websites. The 2 nights cost us £275 even though they asked us for £290 at breakfast!
Lovely quirky hotel , amazing rooms
Noise from public toilets , room directly above .
Great central location in Frome.
Small room, poor housekeeping standards, noisy, limited storage, blocked shower (didn’t drain), lights not working and not resolved despite reporting it and represented poor value for money.
