Overview

Travelers that want to leave the city life behind to marvel at nature can lodge at Grand Canyon Village Hotels’ Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel. Between the red and tan rock of the Grand Canyon and the hotel’s premium accommodations, a stay here is an unforgettable experience.

Each of the four room types at the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel are inspired by Southwest decor. A mix of vibrant colors and earth tones create a pleasing atmosphere that’s made even more comfortable with plush bedding. All rooms include complimentary WiFi, flat-screen LCD TV with premium channels, refrigerator, hairdryer, and dual vanity. Suites add an additional sitting area, microwave, and the option for a sofa sleeper.

Travelers will want to explore the wonder of the Grand Canyon, but not before they take a dip in the on-site seasonal outdoor pool and hot tub. They can also enjoy time relaxing in the indoor 18’ spa. JJK’s Restaurant offers guests Southwest-inspired cuisine while the Wagon Wheel Saloon is a great spot to relax and watch local sports.

Just outside the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel is access to the South Rim. Hiking trails are abundant through the Grand Canyon National Park and can be enjoyed via sightseeing tours. The IMAX theater shows the Grand Canyon from a different perspective. Monument Valley Navajo Park, Lake Powell, and Bearizona Wildlife Park are nearby, and historic Route 66 shows travelers a quirkier side of the southwest.

Visitors will have no issue filling their time when they stay at the Grand Canyon Plaza Hotel.

Pros (+) Room had nice amenities and was clean.
Cons (-) Staff was curt and not at all welcoming. Staying here felt like I was imposing on them. Also, the smoke detector right over the bed with a bright green light made it hard to sleep.

Pros (+) Great stay. The staff was helpful and polite. The room was in good shape. The breakfast buffet was tasty with good variety. We will definitely return.
Cons (-) Very smoky during a prescribed burn in the forest. This was certainly not the fault of the staff, but there surely must be a mechanism to warn of such events. Aside from direct exposure to a campfire,...
