    The location

Room given completely different than the one in the picture . It looked like a Prisoner room. It was dirty and the bathroom as well. Plus tiny. The host is not there to give solutions

Mostly just the location. You get what you Pay for.

Not that clean. No staff to see. Poor beds and blankets. You get what you pay for. Verypoor soundproofing, mostly bad for our neighbours *tihi*

Before I could even enter this (nightmare) hotel I had to phone a number from outdoors before I could even get in or meet any member of staff. My phone battery was dead after a 5 hour journey so I had to charge it elsewhere first. Once I finally had the phone charged enough to call the number on the door I called it, and was given the code for the front door and told that the information I needed would be pinned to the magnet board in the lobby with my name on it. It wasn't there. I phoned the phone again. The gruff sounding man with a very strong dialect which I found extremely difficult to understand agreed to come upstairs. Although I had received a confirmation of booking and confirmation that an evening arrival time was okay ---- this very unfriendly man told me that I must be at the wrong place, that the hotel was full and that there was no confirmation in my name. When I produced a booking number (from booking.com) he looked it up, reluctantly, at first pretending not to be able to find me. He eventually found my booking. He said well we have no free rooms and your booking was never processed (i booked the room at least two days prior to arrival) so the problem here is with booking.com He said there were no free rooms and there was nothing that could be done about it so I had to leave. I then said after some argument and rudeness from this person that I would phone booking.com to clarify things. The whole situation became increasingly stressful. He said he would phone the manager (after I insisted for several minutes that I must speak with the manager, it was already late, I was supposed to be meeting an old friend and not spending what was left of the evening hunting down spare rooms in Hamburg). I tried to phone booking.com from my barely charged phone but I couldn't get through as i only had my booking number to hand and not my pin. I tried both the German and UK customer support numbers. As I was trying to contact booking.

As I was trying to contact booking.com for the third time the unpleasant man dropped a page in front of me, he said that he had suddenly received a cancellation coincidentally enough, and gave me an edited (tippexed) version of another booking for someone called "S Mechant"... which had already been hanging on the magnet board. In the end I called the friend who was waiting for me (and who I haven’t seen in two years )and she came over as I felt really uneasy and unsafe in this "hotel". The unpleasant man had disappeared downstairs. We went up to the room together. I decided to take it as we only had a few hours to catch up, I didn’t want to upset her evening any further. I stayed out until as late as possible because I was anxious about returning to the hotel from hell. I returned around 2 and had to get up at 4 so I stayed up anyway. I didn't want to go to sleep as I didn't feel safe in this lodging, in particular knowing that the awful man was downstairs. Ihad to catch a flight at 6.30am which I missed by a few minutes because I was absolutely exhausted from lack of sleep and worry. Please avoid this dodgy hellhole! The hotel from hell, certainly if you are a solo female traveller or just don’t like being messed about. I expect a response from booking.com asap, This is no way allow people using your agency to be treated. It's outrageous. Could it be that the awful hotel receptionist is Mr. Méchant himself? The name would certainly be appropriate. My phone was off during a later flight this morning, the gruff receptionist had left a message for me about some 49c room tax i apparently now owe the hotel. He didn’t mention this when he gave me the Méchant booking information. The message he has left sounds threatening and I don’t understand what he is saying what with his strong dialect. I am now in another country. I hope booking will deal with this.

Comfy bed, really easy check in/out (without staff, reminded me on some kind of the escape room, with notes all around the hostel). Great location, near Reeperbahn, but in quite peacefull street. Cool stairs inside of the building. Towels in the room.

The room is too small, it's hard to walk through it. The sink in the bathroom is also too small.
