Wonderful position overlooking the bay and harbour, very nice terrace for sundowner drinks, easy walk to restaurants.
In the parador, you are living in the middle of history. It is an incredible structure that you would be paying to tour if it were not a hotel. Our room was quite comfortable and included a beautiful view of the water, boats and France just across the river. There are several enormous public rooms that were former dining halls in the castle, filled with antiques, one with couches and a large flat screen TV for lounging. In the other, you will be awestruck when you see the six priceless tapestries by Raphael. The breakfast was very good, but we wish there was a place in the parador to get other meals, like in other paradors. The small night cafe was less than adequate. Overall, an amazing memorable experience.
Building amazing. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.
Mattress very hard as were the pillows. No air conditioning was a negative given the room price. Bathtub with glass barrier was poor arrangement. Breakfast was very good.
The location is perfect. And of course all the history behind it. The staff were wonderful and very helpful.
I would say that for a 4* hotel and for the prices of the rooms you could expect at least air conditioning or complimentary water. Not slippers or dressing gowns offered. The hair dryer was so old and difficult to use.
The building and the location.
