Sol Beach Resort - Koh Rong Sanloem - Building

Overview Reviews
When you stay at Sol Beach Resort in Koh Rong Sanloem, you'll be on the beach, just steps from Saracen Bay Beach and Koh Rong Sanloem Lighthouse. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beachfront with uninterrupted views plus a hammock and happy hour. What more could you want Great staff who were always friendly, the food was fairly priced and the drop off and pickup for the ferry was easy.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Right on the beachfront, close to bars and restaurants. Saracen Bay Area is beautiful with calm water. A paradise in every way!
Cons: Nothing!
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: This is not a bad hotel in terms of location and appearance but overall the hotel does not warrant the prices which are charged. There are far better hotels along the strip going at half or even a third of the price. To call this a 3 star hotel would be generous, 4 star no chance. Someone is making a tidy sum, I just hope that some of this makes it way to the locals. The room looks nice, if not smaller than anticipated. Additionally, neither the safe provided worked nor did many of the lights. I was sick after eating at the resort on the final day and spent the evening regretting every bite - my advice avoid the crab. The breakfast is a complete joke, with basic offerings which are rarely replenished. Had I booked this hotel at $60 a night, I'd probably be content, but at these prices you expect much much more.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: All perfect
Cons: Coffee is terrible but I m italian
6.7 Good
Pros: The beach front room we had was fantastic. A great view , hammock and loungers nearby and 20 m to the water! The spa was nice and clean and the massages were good quality
Cons: The breakfast was dreadful. Cold meats in the sun curling up and dried out cheese . Poor selection of fruit- no mangos when Cambodia is swimming in them. Staff just hung around, didn’t greet you cheerfully or at all and staff ate at the reception counter and it seemed that staff lived there with a baby and toys around. Not very professional for the cost of the premises. If it was back packers charges here, then you might expect that for breakfast. The restaurant area and staff wasn’t welcoming. No one came to take drink orders on the beach front or even give out a bit of fruit, and it wasn’t busy at all due to Coronavirus Umbrellas and wind screens stayed down long after being required. All these are small things but add up when you are paying four star prices for what is 2.5 star service etc I felt that th wasn’t good value for money at all despite the setting being magic. Details are important!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff Get a massage there, it’s great Wonderful beach
Cons: Food is mediocre, to their defense it’s pretty much the same in the entire bay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff, service, location, food, rooms just excellent
Cons: Not found
7.0 Good
Pros: We requested a sea front cabin and it was lovely being able to walk straight out on to fine white sand. The cabin's themselves are quite basic but we had everything we needed.
Cons: But we were surprised at just how many resorts are on Saracen Bay. Dining out at night on the busiest parts often meant being subjected to music blaring out from adjacent restaurants. Our favourites were Sara's and Happy Place. We only dined in on our first night. The restaurant was very dimly lit with no atmosphere and the food overpriced for what we had. This is a family run resort and the staff tend to spend more time talking to each other than attending to guests. They simply aren't proactive enough. For example, things often ran out at breakfast, including fruit and plates, and we had to ask for these even though there were staff present. When approached, they were friendly and obliging but this is one of the most expensive resorts on the bay and the service just wasn't there.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Located on the beach and it literally means no wearing shoes for the whole stay :) very kind stuff , nice breakfast, free paddling boards, just the paradise for families with kids and people looking for tranquility. Kitchen serves nice food with a break from 3-7 p.m.
Cons: coffee which was served for breakfast was simply bad, but who cares in the paradise

Overview Reviews
When you stay at Orchid Resort in Koh Rong Sanloem, you'll be near the bay, just steps from Lazy Beach and Saracen Bay Beach. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area.
7.1 Good
Pros: Close to the dock. Bungalows were comfortable.
Cons: Staff not very inviting. Prices for food a little high for what they had to offer. Could get the same items for 1-3 dollars less expensive at other establishments.
7.0 Good
Pros: Close to the beach, close to the pier, close to the shop and several restaurants. One of the cheapest accommodation with air conditioning that we found. The room was clean.
Cons: The beach in front of the resort is a walking area, so there is no possibility to lie and relax. But that's the problem of most beach resorts on this island. The entrance to the apartment was through sliding doors that would need renovation. Prices for accommodation and services seem to me higher compared to other similarly developed countries.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Near to jetty where we came off the boat. Near to restaurants in the bay. Large comfortable bed.
Cons: Felt rather shabby and run down. Bathroom looked grubby. No daily housekeeping, sand went everywhere after a few days. Staff didn’t speak much English. Restaurant slightly over-priced compared to others nearby. No one around at 6.15 am for checkout when we had to get the early ferry. Just had to leave the key at reception.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: -good looking outside -rooms with good seaview
Cons: -each bathrooms smell so disgusting -staffs are not friendly and helpful -rooms are not good design and uncomfortable - AC are too hot and just cool at the night time
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location. Great price.
Cons: Bed was a little uncomfortable as you only get one pillow. Bathroom could do with some TLC. Light didn't work well so dark in the evening.
7.0 Good
Pros: Staff were nice. Right next to the pier so easy to get to. Dorm had good AC. Lovely to be right on the beach.
Cons: The dorm wasn't busy and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in a while (toilet paper bins very full).
7.0 Good
Pros: A/C is big plus, bed was ok.
Cons: We had cockroach family in our bathroom. Also every morning we had nice early morning alarm starting at 3:00 AM from a rooster somewhere behind our bungalow :) Towels were not changed during our 5 days stay in the hotel.

6.0 Good
Pros: I like the design, cleanliness, helpful staffs, good service, and yummy foods.
Cons: The facilities should be better. The design is nice but the low quality materials do not fit it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Just far enough away from the backpacker bars that you can’t hear them at night. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Ended up extending our stay by two nights.
Cons: Could do with a touch ups here and there.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The Resort is perfect located at Saracen Beach. We liked the architecture of the Dome.
Cons: The bathroom was for the price of 150 Dollar per night ( we did spend for nights) not what we expected. The water tap and shower tap were in a very bad condition. When we complained about it, they installed new ones. The area where the breakfast is served could be equipped in a nicer way....with flowers and candles. The staff who served the breakfast wasn’t well trained. But some of the people tried there best, except one guy, who was very unfriendly and didn’t pay attention. They should speak better English. In fact the management - if the new manager is in place - has the duty to do more to make this resort worth the money. When we asked why the day beds don’t have white curtains like on the photos, they installed some, what was good and looked much friendlier. The showers outside weren’t cleaned during our stay and were really dirty on the ground. The mattresses of the sun beds were dirty as well. Most of the people didn’t have dinner in the resort, because there was show cooking with fresh fish everywhere around the resort. That’s what we missed in the resort. Some employees are digging in the sand each day right in front of the seashore to save sand from the waves, what is a nuisance. If you’re looking for a romantic view in the morning, this isn’t exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was situated on a lovely quieter part of the island and the views from the hotel out onto the bay were also incredible - but to reiterate, you get the same views at other places a few yards down for half the price
Cons: It is dire need of a refurbishment. It looks nothing like the clean whitewashed pictures and the outside bathroom is in fact now quite grubby and disheveled. The rooms were quite a tight squeeze - for what we were paying we expected a little more room The 'restaurant' has zero atmosphere - it was a few scattered tables and chairs in a dome shaped building and poor food. The prices compared to the other accommodations on the island were way higher and we felt like we were royally ripped off for what we got. There are SO many other lovely places on the island at half the price.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food Very friendly staff Beautiful location Cool rooms Free paddle boards to use They come and pick you up at the pier
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great and attentive staff, fabulous location at the more quiet part of Saracen Bay, breakfast was superb (fruit, coffe/tea and à la carte).
Cons: The entire hotel has great facilities and rooms, but it's obvious that it is a bit worn out, and could need a good renovation/basic cleaning (for example the furniture and bathrooms in the rooms).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely island and great staff
Cons: Dirty jacuzzi, couldnot open the water tap as the glass plate was placed to low (room 15). Couldnot rotate the shower to small head or big head. This expensive hotel not having a laundry service???

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place on the beach! I love sleeping to the waves rolling in. Great off the beach snorkelling. Good kitchen and sunset cocktails too.
Cons: We stayed in two bungalows while we were here: a newer and older one. We preferred the newer one. The older one is a bit more rickety and mosquito-rich. Shared bathrooms could be kept a little cleaner.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nice location thanks to the neighbours of this hotel
Cons: Staff very unfriendly One of my worst experience We are not welcome and dirty even if they are nobody into the hotel Much better to go to Lazy beach
6.0 Good
Pros: I liked the jungle 40 mins destination to that bungalows and I liked TomYam soup that they make and lemonade. Also I liked the breakfast place it was really cool! And the sunset view is amazing there!
Cons: I really wanted to tell them to put more navigator signs with "Robinson" name on them on the way!!! It was so difficult to find! After you face the end of big rode if you go from "Treebar" one goes to the Lazy beach sign and the other turns to the Sunset beach, so you turn to Sunset sign and walk walk ant d on this way you Must put at least 3 navigators with the name Robinson and there wasn't any! So we turned on the wrong way and many people behind us were afraid to go further and just gave up... and many people were confused so much to find this Robinson! And the only reason of all that mess is that there is no any sign! Signs come just after you enter the hill, but many people even dint dare to enter that jungle hill as they think that there is no any path! So i strongly suggest to the "Robinson" and all those near by it neighbors to put more signs on the way from the "Treebar" as many people can't find you and just go to other places. Also I didn't like that there is no toilet inside the bungalow though common toilet not bad and has toilet paper.. Also I dint like alcohol cocktails there and breakfast also was quite average.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was an amazing experience sleeping just beside to the jungle and in front of the sea. Amazing sunset views from the tent. Very relaxed atmosphere and the food served was delicious. The staff ver helpful and extremely nice. If you are a yogi person this is a place to stay for you.
Cons: The showers and the bathroom was not very clean. The water as you can imagine is not drinkable and brown. To get into the place is a little bit difficult if need to trekking in the middle of the jungle bringing your bag-pack
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the tent and it was definitely worth every penny. Great location and the food was pretty good too (slightly up priced as you’d guess on a quiet beach) had everything you need in paradise with hammocks and bean bags everywhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and friendly staff! I had a little spider in my tent and they helped me without hesitating or any comments even though it was really just a spider. The food was great, the cocktails too and the location was brilliant! Was really refreshing and relaxing to spend these 3 days in my tent, my hammock and at the beach without any wifi:) I can totally recommend it!!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: quite isolated, 30min walk from the main beach through the jungle (good shoes recommended). stunning scenery and lovely staff. nice snorkelling spots close-by.
Cons: shared bathroom, not in the best condition.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The views of the beach and location were amazing. The bungalows were spacious and the front porch was great to relax on. The bed was comfortable and mosquito net was high quality.
Cons: A fan inside the room would be a nice addition. Loud party music until early morning hours from somewhere down the beach on the last night was the only frustration with the stay considering we chose the beach for its solitude.

When you stay at Sweet Time Bungalows in Koh Rong Sanloem, you'll be near the beach, within a 5-minute walk of Lazy Beach and Saracen Bay Beach.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The location is ok.
Cons: Already mentioned on the main text
7.9 Good
Pros: perfect location, pretty comfortable room though very hot without air con, outside areas and garden were well maintained, food in restaurant was good, if a little pricey. The manager was very nice but most of the staff spoke little English so he worked a lot harder than them! They took us to the far pier in their boat for free when we were leaving.
Cons: Expensive for what you got (but so is everything on the island!) Rooms could be a bit cleaner and better maintained. There were a lot of staff doing not very much, I’d make them work a bit harder and practice their English!!!
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice location, quiet rooms to the back.
Cons: Poorly equipped and not well maintained rooms. Overpriced, but everything on that beach is expensive.
7.0 Good
Cons: Jonny the manager arranged a taxi to take us back to phnom Penh. Unfortunately the guy was trying it on saying he'd only take us to the outskirts or more money .he said Jonny new this(which I don't believe) . I was having none of it and made him take me to the hotel i ihad booked. So beware of booking a taxi.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Very friendly staff and could see rooms were cleaned well, but structure was old. Bar and food scene looked great.
Cons: The rooms are dark, no opening windows. Walls had holes between rooms and no mosquito nets for beds. Felt run down.
