Pros:
The location is fabulous with views down the caldera and onwards to the Atlantic beyond. The swimming pool is good. The exterior gardens as you approach the front entrance are well kept and very attractive. The parking facilities were good.
Cons:
The hotel lacks investment and is showing signs of its age. The bathroom was very disappointing. It had three chips out of the sink bowl. The shower head was stuck on a thin but strong setting and the temperature was up and down all the time. The bathrobes were obviously very old being a greyish off-white colour. The handrails into the bath were located in an unhelpful position. The food is not very good - particularly the main courses which you have to order in advance. On both evenings that we stayed we had similarly disappointing experiences. The buffet starters and desserts were better, but you had to be there at the beginning of service to get the best offerings. During mealtimes the bar is left unattended which is not helpful if you want an aperitif. The loungers around the pool were old wooden type and the varnish was peeling badly on all of them. The pads were old and unattractive and unappealing to lie on. Some of the staff were good, but quite a few looked like they were not happy to be there and were not helpful.

Pros:
Food was good, staff friendly, room clean
Cons:
The first two rooms we were in had a terrible smell of sewage, human excrement, which made us sick. I had to sleep on a couch in the lobby one night. The hotel would NOT allow any discount for this awful smell. The manager would not meet us. The dining room serve hot food on cold plates even soup where they store the plates in warming machine but don’t turn the heat on.

Pros:
Location was on a hilltop above a small traditional hill village. For me it was perfect as it was a really relaxing and tranquil, restful spot as an antidote to the first part of my holiday based in the coastal resort of Maspalomas. Also I was cycling so a great base up in the hills with easy access to a great network of mountain roads in the centre of the island. Views are great. I think that all the rooms face outwards to great views to mountain ridges and valleys with sea beyond and traditional hill villages. Temperature still in low 20s in Feb but fresher than coast and smells of pine trees. Room was spacious and clean as was bathroom. One small thing was that shower pressure and flow could've been stronger, but perfectly adequate as was. Had a bidet. I like a bidet! Furnishings were traditional and quality and decoration had sense of local character which was a nice change to many hotels which are so neutral that they could be anywhere. Entrance foyer, bar and restaurant make an impact with a 'wall' of continuous full-height glazing overlooking the great view. Staff at reception and in dining room were friendly, cheerful and helpful. I went for half-board and was glad that I did. It's worth noting for fellow solo travellers that the experience of dining alone there was pleasant and comfortable one. Felt very much at ease. Breakfast was a buffet which was good but not exceptional. For the price, the quality of the evening meal was very good in terms of variety of menu choice, food quality and presentation. Bit above normal standard in my experience. (System is that you get evening meal options at breakfast and hand your choice into reception hour or so before dinner - worked for me.) Although I didn't use the pool, spa, massage facilities etc. I thought this was a good facility. Included in price apart for treatments, massages, etc. Massage prices looked reasonable.
Cons:
The only negative issue I had was that the soundproofing between my room and the adjoining ones was poor. This let the otherwise impression of solidity, quality and tranquillity down a bit. Toilet paper was very thin. I know this is a small issue but come on! - how much does it coast to put in some luxurious quilted stuff? Lastly, was little disappointed that nowhere to fill my bike bottles at reception and instead I bought bottled water at the adjacent shop. It wouldn't have taken much effort to fill my bottles for me in the adjacent restaurant kitchen. But let me be clear - these really are relatively insignificant and minor moans in the wider context that was a real 'find' of a hotel for me and as a relaxing base in the mountains with fantastic panoramic views, helpful cheery staff, large, clean and comfortable well-furnished rooms with private balconies and well above average evening meals. But a note to the hotel please - can you soundproof the rooms please when you next u-grade. It would make a great stay even better. One last small moan :-) Whilst there was free I-fi in very comfortable reception and 'library' room - there's a daily charge for Wi=fi access in guest rooms. This just struck me as a bit mean. Come on sort out Wi-fi in the rooms and get some confidence inspiring and luxury bog paper!

Pros:
Superb views. Good location, just a bit out of town. On the first day we did a lovely 8 mile circular walk without using the car. We decided to have half board this time and we weren't disappointed, although main courses not as good as the buffets. Always plenty of choice. On Valentine's night we had a lovely bottle of red wine included.
Cons:
The balcony in the room was much smaller than the photo showed. The shower was poor and needed updating. The files of walks were an excellent idea but quite difficult to use.

Pros:
The location, the view, helpful staff, the decor, the pool, the sun terrace
Cons:
The main courses for the evening meal were disappointing, variable in standard, one evenings choice lovely, another almost inedible, others just ok, but the buffet was good enough to make up for any shortcomings.
