Excellent 10.0
Pros: The owners are extremely friendly, always ready to offer Chinese tea, fruits and snacks and very good conversations with guests. The room is very well kept and clean. Toilet, bathroom and washing area are modern and clean. Very good location (about 10mins walk to main South Gate of the old town) with lovely views of the stream which is right in front of the property.
Cons: Nothing that I don’t like
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The Chinese breakfast was tasty and plentiful. However they will provide toast, fruit, eggs and yoghurt for a more western breakfast. Tea from their own family plantation was always offered at all times of the day and wonderful.
Cons: We stayed in one of the 2 deluxe rooms above the main entrance. the room was spacious and comfortable. As it is above a main thoroughfare you could hear people in the laneways at night and this could be at any time.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Ann and Amy are the best hosts. All our needs were taken care off. They speak perfect English. Great location, so close to the sights and everything is within a comfortable walking distance. We will be back!
Cons: This was a return visit to the property with my family. I was told that the room I’d chosen would be a little more noisy as it is along a thoroughfare… well it was a little too noisy for me. Next time we will book internal rooms like I had on my first visit… I heard no noise from passing people in that room.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The two women running the reception area were very kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is close to all the lively parts of the ancient town but tucked away from the noise at night. The garden and rooms were charming.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Gorgeous building which really felt like a family home. The staff were wonderful. We had a tea ceremony as we checked in which was lovely. The hotel is in the old town but not in the hustle bustle which is great. There is fresh fruit available all the time and it’s delicious.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The Hotel has a nice position in Lijiang old city, it is close to the water, one of the main shopping streets and not too far from the edge where there is a parking lot. The hotel itself is beautiful, it has a nice inner garden and beautiful rooms. Just outside the hotel there is a street with lanterns and a small bridge over te water, this makes it a popular spot for taking pictures. The staff is very helpfull and always there to offer tea, coffee or something to eat.
Cons: The breakfast offerings are limited, there is a western and a local cuisine offer, but if you want something else, just ask the staff, for sure they will help you out with other options even if they have to go shopping outside. You can't park the car at the hotel, so you need to walk a bit to the parking lot, but actually this is very nice, Lijiang old city is car and bike free, making it a very safe place for kids to play carefree in the streets.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was perfect, inside the ancient town. You had to enter through the security barrier which was fine as the security staff was very helpful and one of the staff from the hotel were there to greet us, even after our delayed evening flight. We were right on one of the streams within the town. The very best thing about the hotel was the staff. Ann and her sister were very helpful with all our questions and assisting with booking a private driver and tickets for the Romance of Lijiang show- also highly recommend this! Ann and her sister listened to our experiences in Lijiang and also about us and our family. In comparison to other properties that we saw throughout our 3 night stay we had much bigger rooms and they were private. Some Inn's have rooms with no other windows expect those which face a public courtyard. The chinese breakfast was very tasty and a speciality of Lijiang. I loved the rose petal tea (amongst other choices) which were offered. Tea was offered each time we returned to the hotel. Perhaps something for coffee drinkers to consider to bring their own coffee grounds and a plunger as only instant coffee was on offer. I can recommend the "wish you were here" coffee shop ( which also has live music) where they offer Italian coffee.... delicious!
Cons: Its not that i didn't like it.... but the water fountain kept me awake at night, which when i mentioned to Ann, she told me they could have turned it off at night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything.
Cons: A perfect stay. Quite and close to everything. Staff is very nice and speeks fluent English. I wll there be soon again.

Good 6.0
Pros: The location was really good.
Cons: I didn't like the old towels. I didn't know where to find good food to eat for breakfast.
Good 7.0
Pros: Owners were very welcoming and were very helpful in answering our questions and there was always fruit on hand to eat!
Cons: A little noisy at night with not a lot of soundproofing in the rooms. Also, when we arrived the owner wanted to charge us the same price for a room half the size, just be aware if what you booked!
Good 7.0
Pros: Nice family, clean rooms, hot shower, great view, easy to find
Cons: Bed was very hard Pillows were very big and firm No bedside lamp
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Staff was really lovely and helpful with information about Tiger Leaping Gorge and biking to Baisha. Located very conveniently near the bus station to/from Shangri-La as well as the Old Town, with a convenience store on the corner. Beds were warm and comfy, not too hard.
Cons: Generally seemed a bit disorganized, things weren’t especially clean.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: It's a 10 min walk to the old town and a 5 min walk to the bus station (for Tiger leaping gorge, Shangri-la, Dali...). The hosts are helpful and communicative, and can organize transport for you, too. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and quite spacious. Great value for money!
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Super spacious with plenty of chilling areas. Great location. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Open areas on second floor to relax.
Cons: Bed in the 8-room dorm room was quite squeaky and not super comfortable, but everything else was wonderful. I highly recommend Mama Naxi and will definitely come back!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Most impressive aspect was the hospitality. Mama Naxi really treats you like family. Sha Ha helped us getting train tickets and writing explanations in chinese. When we went out in the mornings, they would make sure we had some food, such as bananas or bread, in our stomachs. Location was great, about 10 minute walk from the Old City, and half a block from the Train Ticket Office (attention: not the Railway Station). Dinner was a great value at 25 yuan per person.

Excellent 8.0
Pros: Everyone at front desk are so friendly and helpful! Especially Ms Wang Jingjing, also special thanks to Ms Candy Zhou from Charm restaurant, she is so familiar and explained to me all special dishes professionally, also prepared breakfast packing as i need to catch my flight early, really appreciated their hospitality, really enjoyed my stay here!
Good 6.0
Pros: The location was very good, also the room itself (we booked the super deluxe room) was clean, modern and spacious
Cons: Unfortunately the hotel is very loud in case you have neighbors. You can hear every toilet flush and also the dipping of the sink for ours. I just slept 3 hours per night. This quality of pipes and facilities I don’t expect for that high price
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Modern and edgy design. Breakfast was relatively cheap at 120 RMB, and could either enjoy it at the hotel or go to the InterContinental directly opposite. The breakfast at the IC is better. Could use the gym and swimming pool at the IC - literally a 2-minute walk only. Staff were very friendly. Location is just by the South Gate so very convenient for accessing taxis and for walking into the Old Town.
Cons: The blankets and pillows are comfortable but the bed is hard. I guess it is designed for Chinese.
Excellent 9.6
The IHG team throughout both sister hotels of Indigo and Intercontinental went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I’d especially like to highlight Sunny Xiao who came by to say hello every morning at breakfast and helped give ideas to make my itinerary fulfilling. All the recommendations and arrangements from the front desk worked out perfectly. Thank you to the IHG team for a wonderful first visit to Lijiang! I’ll be back again soon!
Okay 5.0
Pros: Room was excellent. Location very good
Cons: No gym. Necessary to walk to Intercontinental next door in sub-zero evening temperatures. Gym not 24 hours which most 5 star hotels offer. Room service shuts down VERY early. Reception understaffed.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Most things
Cons: - staff failed to tell us in advance about access problems so it took us half an hour longer to reach the hotel - sauna was out of action - staff told us no room for breakfast. Only because we complained they found us space. That does not seem acceptable for a 4/5 star hotel!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent location, direct access to the old town entrance, very helpful staff - from reception to drivers.
Cons: We didn’t like the breakfast, the restaurant was cold, food was cold except cooked to order options. The regular menu was very basic, the bread didn’t even fit in the toaster. Somehow nobody figure out that the bread was bigger then the toaster...
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The breakfast was good, the room was nice. The spa was good but the last day was a little disorganized.
Cons: I was recommended a restaurant that was closed. Before recommending the staff should check it is open.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Directly in old town, good breakfast, can use gym from intercontinental, beautiful property with small houses, modern room facilities.
Cons: The staff was very friendly and always did their best, but the English skills were a bit weak for this kind of hotel and could be improved.
Excellent 10.0
Great location, used the Intercon facilities(gym and pool and bar) upgraded me to a villa!! The only small gripe was that they were helping me arrange to go to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and did really do a good job of it. I ended up there without the relevant QR codes and spent an hour trying to sort it when I got there and they didnt really give me the right instructions on how to get there and what my ticket did not include or include. The apologised profusely but it did wreck the morning as I had to deal with the officials at the national park and I wasted ah hour. Otherwise, great hotel.

Excellent 9.0
Pros: Beautiful resort very well located to take advantage of Lijiang
Cons: The swimming pool a bit disappointing
Good 6.0
Pros: It is a beautiful property with a wonderful historical charm but still very comfortable. Being able to walk directly out of the hotel into the old town was very convenient. Other shops nearby such as a chemist, Starbucks etc.
Cons: We had Club access but were disappointed with the standard of service, food and beverage provided in the Club. Breakfast was supposed to be available in the Club from 7am. I arrived at 7 and it was still being set up. Set up was not completed until 7.30. The 'egg' station' was manned by the receptionist. The eggs were not well cooked. A proper chef should have been cooking the eggs for the guests in the Club. My son asked for mayonnaise and was told there was none in the hotel. Once food was finished it was not replaced so if you arrived in the Club later in the evening there was very little choice remaining.
Good 6.0
Pros: Good location
Cons: The service standard is not matching other intercontinental hotels worldwide.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: This is a lovely hotel designed like an ancient village. Very attractive rooms -beautifully designed. My room had a lovely pond outside with some tables, chairs and umbrellas to lounge at. The garden had a security-guarded exit into the ancient town for easy access to shops and restaurants. Service was great. Breakfast was terrific. The main lobby has a great view where we enjoyed a late tea/lunch-all delicious. Live music was provided-a relaxing atmosphere.
Okay 4.0
Cons: Service at the bar was very bad
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Perfect location and breakfast
Excellent 9.0
Pros: The location is perfect, the back gate of the property is already inside the old town. The rooms were perfectly Chinese style and nicely designed. Lovely garden setting, stunning view of the Jade Dragon snow mountain peak upon entering the hotel. A great terrace view for relaxing, and generous teepee set-up for the kids to play in the garden. Staff are very polite, nice, and very helpful. Breakfast has a good selection of Chinese & western food. Great value for money
Cons: The only thing missing in the breakfast is the pancake & fresh yak yogurt. Staff at the breakfast buffet weren’t so good in handling first come first serve guests. A guy overtook the queue upon entering the breakfast and the staff didn’t bother to let him queue but instead entertained him. That wasn’t nice gesture.
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: The hotel is close to Ancient Town, just this. It was my worst experience in an IHG hotel, our expectation of having chosen the Intercontinental Hotel for vacation was frustrated by the lack of attention and empathy with the guests. IHG should take a good look at it
Cons: A 5 star hotel without room service, restaurants that close at 2PM, nothing special was offered on New Year's Eve night (restaurants were closed). The reception bar closed at 11:30pm on New Year's Eve. What was supposed to be a special moment turned out to be a very frustrating and terrible experience. They are not prepared to host foreigners, unfortunately.
Good 7.2
Rooms are very comfortable. The hotel location is ideal if you want to explore old Lijiang!

Excellent 9.6
Pros: Beautiful traditional style courtyards! Nice selections of breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff members.
Cons: You can hear noises outside pretty easily especially late nights and early mornings. Beds were a little too hard for my husband, ok for me though.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: Pleasant hotel in a quiet but handy location
Cons: All OK
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The hotel has amazing rooms, we had a suite with lounge and bedroom and both really big. It was fairly quiet. The staff were very helpful when we tried to find a massage place and recommended a place to us. The massage was amazing.
Cons: Payment in China with credit cards proved to be a problem, none of our cards visa, master or amex worked. I think you need a 6 digit PIN and we only have 4!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Central location, friendly helpful staff
Cons: Nil
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The location was perfect. The restaurant for evening meals, lunch & coffee was very good. The building was an old courtyard style. Very authentic & interesting. Good sleep quality. Comfortable room. Large bathroom. Good air con. Sitting on the terrace looking out at Lijiang was excellent. No noise from the old town. Non stop free water in lobby. Small gym. Beautiful courtyards to sit out in.
Cons: The staff didn’t speak English. The breakfast was very basic. The room could have been cleaned better & probably needs renovating - eg carpet & curtains.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: It’s historic atmosphere in a genuine old building.
Cons: Breakfast for westerners was a little poor but the Chinese noodles soup was delicious
Good 6.7
Pros: Great location, and good price
Cons: Very difficult to discuss with the staff as nobody speak English. And overall staff was not really helpful.
Good 7.1
Pros: The hotel is just a few minutes walk via the South Gate in the quieter part of Lijiang Old Town. It is located in the pedestrian area and have good easy access to all there is to experience in the old town. Staff is friendly, helpful and able to provide information on places of interest to visit. Our room was very basic but clean with western bathroom. Mattress was comfortable and the temperature was cool during our stay so did not use air conditioning.
Cons: Mainly Chinese food was served for breakfast with limited Western option/choice.
