Dar Housnia wows on two fronts: ambience and staff/service. Once through the door, the riad is a wonderfull oasis, with lovely decor and very tasteful interior design. Our room on the first floor was lovely and airy as well as comfortable - the perfect base from which to explore the medina. The pool is small but perfect for a refreshing dip - and big enough for a few strokes in each direction. The staff. Wow. It's a small team, and because there are only ever so many guests, you build up a strong rapport very quickly. Everyone goes out of their way to make your stay memorable, always with a smile on their face. Rachida, the queen of the kitchen, is a veritable magician - we ate in on a few occasions and dinner was always exceptional. Our stay was unexpectedly extended due to the COVID-19 travel chaos, and we owe the staff our peace of mind and sanity - they styed on even as we were the only guests in the riad, they helped us with our numerous trips to and from the airport, they cooked for us every day, even at short notice, went to the market for us when everything else was closed and even called us as we were at the airport yet again, to check whether we had finally made the flight. I tear up just thinking about their indominatable positivity and amazing dedication to customer service. I honestly can't thank them enough - their smiles made the stres bearable. I just hope that they'll be okay, now that the riad will likely be empty for a few months.
Only two small things to consider - not really negatives: 1) during our extended stay we moved to the downstairs room that looks out onto the courtyard (it was cheaper), and while the room itself is lovely, it feels a little exposed as the doors to the rooms are these beautiful ancient wooden gates which don't seal shut properly - so the sense of privacy is a little thin. 2) the location in the medina is obviously great for exploration, but at night when it gets dark it got a little uncomfortable for us because it's very hidden and away from the busy medina districts. But that's subjective.
Beautiful riad, very tranquil when staying right in the centre of the medina. Great location. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
Design and tranquility
Sketchy surroundings especially at night
Beautiful property, gorgeously decorated with amazing attentive staff. Recommend calling the Dar ahead of time to arrange for a member of staff to meet you outside of the medina to avoid getting scammed or accosted by unscrupulous trolley boys
Location was a bit hard to find but that is the Médina for you!
Great location (hard to find on your own) Wonderful room with roof terrace.
