The location is amazing if you like to be in a more quiet natural setting. We really loved our stay in this tiny fishing village. There are a couple of nice walks and a morning temple ceremony that is beautiful. It's about an hour and twenty minutes bus ride to matsue. We stayed in the annex, I think it would definitely be better value for money if there are more of you. Its very characteristic and traditional, as I said before could do with a bit more attention to detail with cleaning but it's by no means dirty so don't let that put you off. All the facilities in the annex are excellent except the WiFi, maybe for some it would be a plus to have no WiFi, we found it a bit frustrating for when we were try to organise travel plans etc. We had both breakfast and dinner, they were nice meals, there doesn't seem to be a lot of choice restaurant wise so you will probably end up eating here. It's a family run place and there is a friendly, helpful atmosphere. The owner kindly picked us up from the train station, which is lucky as I think we would have struggled getting to it ourselves. I'd recommend this place if you want to experience somewhere quiet and a bit different.

Maybe a bit more attention could be paid to cleaning as it was quite dusty in the annex and there were a couple of hairs in our bed and the bathroom sink, it wasn't dirty at all, but it could do with a deep clean. Also in my opinion the annex really needs WiFi option, as when you are travelling it's quite important for getting travel information and information about areas you are visiting and having to go back to the main hotel wasn't so convenient.
