Reception is open 24hours, helpful staff .. and there are private room options. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone over 21. I didnt enjoy the stay and didnt really feel that safe or inviting there. I ended up paying for a private room- which was so basic and then staying with a friend in the area rather than facing a dorm for the other nights.

I honestly hated my stay here, I made the mistake of option for a mixed dorm, which stunk of boys I walked in and turned around and booked myself a private room. The room was absolutely minimal, with ear plugs provided which i am pretty sure were fake as they didnt block out any of the road noise. I paid for 3 nights but found a local friend to stay with instead. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, everyone is young with a loud bar in the basement. It did not feel like a place to come home to to sleep well or be clean and or in comfort. The sheets on the beds were unappealing and the bathrooms pretty grim. It did not feel like a holiday. The dorms are basic as can be. You have to pay for a towel. The app to get into your room was just annoying frankly and did not work well and we were woken up by a loud tannoy at 10am telling you to wake up and check out.. it felt like a jail.. Am I paying to be here?? Luckily I got a refund for one night. I'm 31 and clearly too old for this place. I hated it.

    Staff was nice

Noise noise noise. Could hear everything! Air conditioner wasn't working, we had to ask 4 times. Must open the window on main street. Entire night was awfully. And it is really brave to say "breakfast" to... This... Sry but it was a disaster

It is a really fun place, the bar downstairs is always busy and it generally seems like there’s someone to talk to. Must be that beach vibe...

Unfortunately the backpacking staff just give the place a bad vibe, they’re pretty insular (i.e. they won’t talk to you directly unless you are one of them) and have a HUGE ego. Like you’re just on a trip in Australia. That doesn’t make you elite? They come directly into the room regularly to vibe you up about something cool and exciting that’s going on (walking tours or whatever) which may or may not be annoying for you, but will definitely never be as exciting as they try to make it sound. The kitchen facilities are pretty average with the fridges always being choc-a-bloc with stuff, and the pantry is just hooks on a wall? The curtain in my room was broken unfortunately, and once or twice (in two weeks) the hot water didn’t work. Also, they make you use an app on your phone in order to open the doors (but which you can also use to message other guests. The hostel will also send you constant updates through notifications with one being the daily password for the wi-fi), and one night I heard one of the full-time staff trying to break a door down because the device on the door had stopped working. But getting back to the staff, they’re honestly quite trash at their job. I told them I’d lost my wallet and after speaking to three of them separately, not one of them asked what it looked like, or mentioned what would happen if it showed up after I left? Like that is just poor bedside manner. Your job is not just to sit there and look pretty, this is a business isn’t it?
