The building is 500 yrs old and was built as part of a military fort. The rehab is very new and has five star furnishings, finishes, accommodations and services. The staff was ultra friendly and could not have been more helpful. Short stroll to town (5 min) and Metz is very cool.
Nothing to complain about. And I'm normally a grumpy old man about things
Opened in 2005 and located near the cultural and historical center of Metz, the Citadelle Hotel is worthy of the highest accolades any upscale hotel can receive. Construction of this large-scale military building began in 1559 to safeguard the conquest of Metz by King Henri II. The simple and sleek building has 68 rooms, including 2 suites, 4 meeting rooms, 1 lounge bar and Christophe Dufossé's Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant, Le Magasin aux Vivres.
