A late change in travel plans left me needing accommodation for 1 night on Sunday night. Mark and Dawn accepted booking and were as ready as always with a warm welcome (including homemade biscuits and shortcake), and an update on activities in Moffat - from the Farmers' Market to tree planting; they make you feel as if you're at home - if you don't want that then book into an impersonal corporate chain. The beds are so comfortable that I over slept! and was half an hour late for breakfast. Breakfast was superb - recent additions of haggis and blackpudding are a big thumbs up for me. I can't imagine where the previous reviewer was staying to rate No29 as 2.5 - I can only suggest that he logged his review against the wrong B&B. I'm a repeat visitor and would say No29 fully deserves it Exceptional rating. (and it's great value for money - I've stayed in worse that cost far more!)
Nothing! The rooms even have a tray for muddy shoes!
Nothing - Moffat is a really nice town which is convenient for the motorway. Unfortunately the rude, racist, hosts at this B&B do it a disservice.
On arrival the hosts immediately started complaining about booking.com, telling me I had not paid enough. They then continued to complain that if they called booking.com they would have to speak to “coloured people” who did not speak proper English. I was so shocked. It made me feel so uncomfortable. These people need to know that this kind of racist behaviour is unacceptable and offensive. The room was cold. There was no hot water (Luke warm) I was shivering in the bath. The towels were too small and threadbare. I tried the shower but it ran hot then freezing cold. Facilities are very basic. Far below what I expect in this price range. The breakfast was made with very low quality ingredients - the sausages were the worst I ever tasted, inedible. The hosts stood and watched me eat my breakfast making me feel very uncomfortable. Possibly the worst B&B I have ever stayed in.
Fantastic friendly hosts with very central location and great for a stop off the Motorway. Dawn is a great cook and breakfast was sensational. Mark is a good communicator and did everything to make our stay perfect and that included keeping the dog happy!
A very welcoming stay. Lovely room and breakfast was fab. Our dog was very welcome too
Mark & Dawn are marvelous hosts! You get a warm welcome with cookies, cake & tea. For breakfast you can pre-order from a great deal of choices. Most importantly for me, there are fresh fruits, Greek yogurt and granola.
You should be aware, that the walls are not soundproof. I had no problem with street noices, but when my room neighbours were in, I could understand every word. (I reckon it was vice versa) Moffat is a lovely little town, with several (dog-)friendly Pubs.
