Located in the heart of Nessebar Old Town, less than 100 metres from the sandy beach, Family Hotel St. Stefan offers rooms with cable TV and free Wi-Fi. The hotel is connected to Nessebar Harbour via ancient Roman stairs. Many of the rooms at the St. Stefan have views over the Black Sea and the marina. All have a private bathroom with free toiletries. Each room features original paintings by Bulgarian authors, and there are paintings in the lobby, which are being changed monthly. Guests of the Family Hotel can enjoy meals from the restaurant, or refreshments from the bar on the hotel’s terrace. Family Hotel St. Stefan has a sauna for guests to relax in, which is at a surcharge. A transfer service as well as car rentals are provided on request. The 11th-century Church of St. Stephen, now turned into a museum, is just a few metres away, as well as the ancient Roman Amphitheatre. During summer, shows and art performances can be enjoyed there, with direct views from some rooms.

Pros:We booked a room Family Hotel St Stefan just on a whim over Thanksgiving holiday break (22-23 Nov) and it was wonderful! So great in fact that we’re already planning to return to Nessebar and stay there every Thanksgiving weekend from now on! The location was spot on, close enough to the water to hear the wave breaks and we had an almost unobstructed view of the water from the living room area. Not to mention our view looked out toward the east, exactly where the sun rose each day! Beautiful! The room was well kept and updated for such an old building. The staff were incredible, very polite, spoke great English; although I speak good Bulgarian too so that did make it a bit easier. Pretty sure that we were the only guests for the two nights we stayed so it made the situation much more personalized! Breakfast included was spectacular, large spread for just the 4 of us. Parking was easy (remember, ‘off-season’) and there is plenty to see right outside the front door of the hotel! Excellent experience altogether!
Cons:If I were to have any criticism; I guess it would be that the carpet in our room clearly needs to be replaced and the TV did not have good reception at all. Both very minor issues, all things considered.
