Top tips for finding the perfect Montego Bay hotel

Hoping to make your trip to Montego Bay as relaxed as possible? Consider booking one of the many all-inclusive resorts in the area, such as the Secrets Wild Orchid or the Breathless Montego Bay-Adults Only. Both hotels have a spa, outdoor pool, private beach and sauna.
If you would like to have a scenic and peaceful vacation spent on the beach, look for hotels near Doctor’s Cave Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Jamaica with clean, calm water. The Doctors Cave Beach Hotel is just a quick walk to the sand, with a pool and a variety of room options.
For those interested in a more intimate experience, instead of a traditional resort, consider booking one of the many boutique hotels that have started to pop up throughout Montego Bay. The Round Hill Hotel & Villas is located in Hopewell with tropical surrounds and guest access to a private beach.
Although Montego Bay is well-known for its peaceful and serene beaches, it still has plenty of nightlife and entertainment. If you would like to be near the best restaurants, bars and shows, book a hotel located on what the locals call the Hip Strip. The SeaGarden Beach Resort is an all-inclusive option, set in an old mansion.
Generally speaking, it’s not necessary to rent a car in Montego Bay, as many of the beaches and resorts are located near one another. Because of this, one of the best ways to get around the city and easily travel to the airport is to book a hotel that provides free shuttle services for guests, such as the Hilton Rose Hall Resort.

You can ask for all most anything (try the dumplings). The TV is great, with lots of options, if you like to chill out on an evening. All in all a great place. 10/10. "

Pro " The staff were absolutely incredible at this resort. We particularly enjoyed the club level concierge ladies, the housekeeping staff who always greeted us with smiles and "no problem"s when we needed "just 5 more minutes" in the room, the water sports team, and Travis (creator of the off menu signature drink, "The Travistine") at the beach bar. At the other property (Sandals Montego Bay), Kenroy who worked the over the water Latitude bar was really wonderful to speak to and made excellent cocktails. Speaking of Latitude: it was the BEST. I could have stayed there all day and night. We spent a lot of time there, rain or shine, day or night. Highly recommend. I'm not usually a breakfast buffet person, but the views from the main restaurant at Royal Caribbean were stellar. The bacon and coffee were always good, and they will make you an omlette or pretty much whatever you want, so we ate there almost every day. We also really loved The Jerk Shack's food. The location on the private island was really great! Additionally, the rooms were very clean and comfortable-- exactly as pictured. "
Con " The food was overall, good, but not out of this world (even the nicer restaurants). I would have liked to have had some more authentic cuisine available. Unfortunately, during the time of our stay, the weather didn't really cooperate so there were a lot of things that we did not get to do. It was not easily accessible to leave the resort and go on excursions that weren't $75+ per person, and we didn't want to pay for something we were unable to enjoy or experience fully because of weather. Of course the resort can't control the weather, but I really wish there were more opportunities to explore the essence of the island without paying an arm and a leg. Things like local (authentic) reggae shows, more craftsman booths (they did have some on site), local food vendors, and some inexpensive hiking/adventure trips would have been nice. Additionally, the beaches at the Montego Bay resort were nicer than the ones at Royal Caribbean (i.e. it was more of an actual beach). The water was pretty at Royal Caribbean, but it was in a bay so there was a lot of grass beyond the roped off areas and the "beaches" were really small. "

Pro " The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They were sincere and genuine, especially at the pool bar (St. James pool bartenders and Mrs. Erica) and restaurants. The pool bathrooms and grounds were very clean. My husband and I got our phones wet during an excursion...one of the staff members ( a young lady who worked at the casino) was walking by and noticed how distressed we were. She ran to the beachside restaurant and got us a bag of rice to soak our phones so that the rice would absorb the water. That was really nice of her. I’m so sorry that I forgot her name. The live entertainment was amazing! Cee Cee, the Reggae bands and the African dancers gave me life!! The food is great at all of the restaurants except El Patio. "
Con " The national dish (Ackee and Salt-fish )should be served daily not just on Sunday. All restaurants should be open and available on ALL days . The food is great at all of the restaurants except El Patio. The rugs and upholstery on the sofas in our hotel room need to be cleaned a bit. "

Pro " I liked everything about this experience. The staff was friendly very professional, resourceful. When we arrived the staff greeted us by saying welcome home. That just made us feel right at home "
Con " I didn't like we missed our flight we didn't know we had to be on the flight an hour before the flight departed. Carribean airlines employees were not accommodating, very disrespectful. So my family and I missed out on our first night. We had to pay an additional fee for another flight so instead of us arriving to Jamaica Saturday we arrived Sunday so this shortened our trip "
