9.6 Excellent
Pros: The couple running this B and B were very helpful sharing with us directions needed to find a spot so our trip would be successful. They were very friendly, we had wine in the evening. The breakfasts were what we ordered with delicious eggs, fruit, muffins, bacon, juice, yogurt, all so fresh plus coffee. We even are asking about the make of the comfortable bed to purchase one for ourselves. The bathroom,, a glass shower and a soak tub, spacious bedroom. I would recommend this to anyone who can walk up the stairs... course all the B and B.. had stairs. Decorations fit this older completely remodeled and very comfortable . But you need a GPS to find it.
Cons: Maybe a make up mirror in the bathroom would be helpful. But we do carry one.

Wish we stayed longer. The best we have stayed in so far. Great value for the money. Far exceeded our expectations, wish we could give a higher rating than 10. Thank you, the 4 of us enjoyed our stay immensely.

Situated in the Historic Seaside town of Pictou is the welcoming and charming Willow House Inn Bed & Breakfast. This spacious home was built in 1840 for David Matheson, a Barrister, who became Pictou's first mayor. You are greeted with warm Maritime hospitality when you arrive at the Willow House Inn B&B. Park your car in our large parking lot - you won't need it to explore Pictou. It is a short walk to the picturesque downtown waterfront area where you will find unique shops, galleries, museums, entertainment and a variety of restaurants. Along the waterfront is the Hector Heritage Quay featuring the reconstructed Ship Hector and interpretive center. Here Pictou's history and Scottish influences dating back to the late 1700's will unfold for you. The Jitney Trail begins at the marina and follows the shore of the Harbour. It is perfect for a stroll or cycling. From it you will enjoy beautiful vistas of the town or watch the bald eagles soar above the water. This is the prefect location to unwind and leave all the hustle and bustle behind. The pace is very relaxed and the people friendly. Located on Nova Scotia's North shore, we are an 8 minute drive to the ferry to Prince Edward Island, 75 minutes to the Robert Stanfield International Airport, and a perfect location to stop on the way to Cape Breton. Other Activities If golf is your favourite pastime you are in luck. There are three eighteen hole courses within a twenty minute drive. If you want something smaller there are two nine hole courses within a five minute drive. There is something to suit all skill levels. Make the trip to Sherbrooke Village to visit this living history. A reconstructed village, it depicts life in Nova Scotia in the 1800â??s to the early 1900â??s. Stroll through the streets, enjoy a treat at the tea room or check out the saw mill. Why not try tidal bore rafting on the Shubenacadie River? The highest tides in the world are in the Bay of Fundy. As the tide comes in and forces the water through the narrow neck into the tidal Shubenacadie River the bore is created. This is sure to please those of you who want to experience the bore first hand. Take a trip out the Sunrise Trail stopping along the way to visit the Lismore Sheep Farm. A working sheep farm, there is plenty to see and do here. Continue along and visit the Balmoral Grist Mill, a working mill near the village of Tatamagouche. A little further along the Sunrise Trail is the turn off for Jost Vineyards. Stop and have a winery tour and sample some of Nova Scotiaâ??s finest wines. Watch out for some of the special events that take place around the County. If you're an athlete, you won't want to miss the Johnny Miles Running Event Weekend in celebration of a man who surprised everybody by winning the Boston Marathon as a complete unknown. In May and June, local fisherman catch lobster in the Northumberland Strait. This catch is a valuable part of our local economy. During the second weekend in July, we celebrate their role during the annual Lobster Carnival. 2009 marks 75 years of celebration for this event. The Summer Sounds is held at the deCoste Entertainment Center every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from early July until the end of August. Featured are wonderful local and Nova Scotia talent. The people of Pictou County take pride in a colourful past and an unparalleled quality of life. While you're here, take some time to enjoy a celebration of our heritage or relax and enjoy! In late 1760's, a group of business people in New England, including Samuel Harris, John Witherspoon and Ben Franklin, acquired a grant that became known as the Philadelphia Grant. The first settlers arrived on the shores of Pictou in 1767 aboard the Betsy. This group of people prepared the way for a big arrival - the Ship Hector in 1773. The ship arrived from Scotland in the early autumn carrying almost 200 passengers after an extremely difficult Atlantic Crossing. Along the waterfront is the Hector Heritage Quay featuring the reconstructed Ship Hector and interpretive center. Here Pictouâ??s history and Scottish influences will unfold for you. In the early 18th century, the wave of Scottish immigrants increased in volume. As the settlers spread across Northern Nova Scotia, Pictou became known as the birth place of New Scotland. These people brought many influences to the area. The town of Pictou was a hotbed of political discussion and dissent, particularly over the issues of religion and education. Pictou Academy, founded in 1816 was emblematic of many of these discussions. Today, the people of Pictou County have many interests. The headquarters for one of Canada's largest supermarket chains - Sobeys, is up the road. Just around the corner from us is the Grohmann Knife Factory outlet, where knives are crafted with special quality and care and renowned around the world. For those of you who love to stroll on the sand or just bask in the sun check out Caribou Provincial Park beach. Just a 5 minute drive away this is one of our most beautiful beaches. Swim in the warmest salt water north of the Carolinas or hunt for sand dollars on this beautiful crescent beach. All of our guest rooms feature cable TV, telephone, high speed wireless internet and air conditioning in the Summer. Our common living room offers comfortable seating for a chat, playing a game with your family or just reading a book. There is also a piano for those who love music. Pros: Evening Sail was lovely. Michelle, the owner, was very personable and was there when we arrived. She took us to our room, and suggested restaurants that she liked and had menus for those. Evening Sail is within walking distance of the Pictou Harbor and we enjoyed seeing the boats. Breakfast was served at a large kitchen table and the food was very good. My husband particularly liked the raspberry crumb cake that Michelle's mother made that morning.
Cons: nothing

7.1 Good
Pros: The location was spectacular. Beautiful lodge and restaurant. Gorgeous clay sand beach
Cons: Our room was like an ordinary motel room. Not much privacy from neighbors next door. Room was clean but had a funky smell like body odor. I went to address it with front desk, they did offer to move us, but the other room had no view. They did send over a can of air freshener. Bathroom was clean, but hated the linoleum floor which was bubbling. Tile would be a much better choice. Pretty pricey for a small average motel room. We paid $225. I would chose a different style room next time for sure.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: excellent, peaceful
Cons: Aircon. set should be located at the back of cottage , not at front as in doing so shatters the tranquility of front porche
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely everything was phenomenal; this is a beautiful spot!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was beautiful, we had a room overlooking the ocean. I loved the verandas with the chairs in the front of the rooms. The rooms were very nice, spacious & very comfortable. The beach was very nice - I wish that we had more time to enjoy that. The restaurant was amazing, as was the staff.
Cons: There was nothing that I didn't like about the property or our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the room and the beach and the canoeing and the walk were great! The formal dinner was crappy!
Cons: Not happy at all with the "formal" dining. We sat at a table that had the air conditioning blowing at our feet. The party beside us at the next table was very loud ..... Kind of killed the "romantic" dinner we had planned. The bill came to over $140.00 for two entrees and a soup with no drinks …. pretty sure we paid someone else's bill. We placed a menu on the floor to cover the air-conditioning vent ….. the waitress seemed to know it was an issue (so unprofessional). The room was perfect ….. will stay again when we come back next year ….. we will plan an alternative to the "formal dining". We had a great time canoeing and swimming at the beach!
6.3 Good
Cons: To busy, too many guest for the property size. Overpriced in comparison accommodations and food.

Pros: Continental breakfast was no good at all
5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was good for our purposes.
Cons: Found a different bug in two different drawers and did tell the front desk staff who took action. We were in # 31 ground floor. There was staining on the bathroom walls near the toilet and the sunken shower stall floor with old small tiles did not look like anyone even with good intentions could get it clean so we decided to make do with 'standup' washes at the sink.

Pros: Only 20 minutes away from PEI ferry. Super friend staff - special shout out to Gloria for making us feel so welcome. Home away from home.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was adequate.

Pros: Great people clean&comfy
5.0 Okay
Cons: I would not have stayed there because of the price, when converted I payed $---- for a one bed room. This price was outrageous. The reason I would not recommend this place is that it is overpriced for what you receive.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We always feel comfortable at comfort inns. We do look for comfort inn befor we travel

7.1 Good
Pros: I liked the location and the staff was amazing and the room was clean
Cons: the price was a bit steep, and we never had the free breakfast because it was so small and always full of ppl trying to maneuver around with no tables. so we had to go somewhere else.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was somewhat OK, with little space to sit at a table save in the lobby. The receptionist was most helpful.
Cons: The room was a little 'warn' and could be redecorated. I certainly will not book via the internet again - having trouble to get it to record the correct date. I ended up paying double.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful private porch outside our door.
Cons: We managed to miss the info that we were to check in next door.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: I didn't like the fact that everything that I had expected about this location has been a disappointment. all the way from where to register, who greeted me or no one greeted me at the door. when walking in had to go in and find my own room. I had to go and pay and retrieve the keys at a totally different location in the rain down the street what I didn't like the most about it is I had paid for an expected breakfast. I was told the breakfast was not included as of whenever and they blame from Google as a problem but then they didn't even have the decency to speak to me in regards to my concerns ignored me completely. I absolutely would never recommend this location in fact I believe that they need to readjust their summary to his to say we do not include breakfast because there is no staff at the facility at all.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was nicely located, near businesses, shopping, an interesting town. Quiet, on site staff, a stately old home, with a pool table, coffee, and verandas. A pleasant stay in a historic town, museums and harbour entertainment.

Pros: We booked it just because our trip was planned last minute - all other places were booked. The room was clean and comfy. We arrived late at night and left early morning, so, that was enough for us.
Cons: However, the house has a smell of a very old place. Every stair and every door make loud, really loud creak. The breakfast was too modest for the price we paid, I expected more than any ordinary hotel offers (even no egg, no cream cheese; bread, butter, jam, and some cut cheddar and watermelon). The table cloth needs a good wash, each table was covered with spots. And one more thing that made me upset. We arrived around 12:00 am after a long and intensive road trip on Cabot Trail. We've been in such remote places that there was no cellular connection. So we missed a message from the owner asking ETA. The message was sent around 9:30 pm and we could see it and reply 1.5 hr later. The owner left us the key in a secret spot with all the instructions. Next morning she gave me a lecture that other places close their check-in at 8:00 pm, that only her is so kind to stay up till 10:00 pm and she made me feel a bad person that I did not respond to her calls (which even didn't go through because of lack of service). My explanation didn't stop her. The last thing I expect during my stay in hotels is a bitter mood. I paid 300$ for my room and I had a chance of having its door shut in front of my nose.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best accommodations in our trip so far, the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and so comfortable. Close to the harbour and all amenities
Cons: My only complaint is that the curtains in our room in the annex were very light and even with the curtains drawn the light from outside never let our room get truly dark
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was exceptionally good.
Cons: The room could have been cleaner, especially the windows. The hot water in the bathroom sink took a very long time to get hot.
9.6 Excellent

Pros: authentic historic architecture. Unique. Lovely Owner.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Very very old building. Smelled musty. just creaky and empty.
6.7 Good
Pros: The location was very nice and quiet.
Cons: There was not much for choices for breakfast, the bed was not very comfortable.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The room was clean
Cons: Breakfast was extremely limited and food was not fresh. Woman who worked there gave very little information. She charged my credit card before we even arrived. She had small bottles of soda and charged $3 each. Every in the place had a price tag. She was even trying to sell prints and silk flowers at breakfast. For a what we were charged our children should have been able to eat a fresh muffin or toast. Complete rip off!!!! Extremely disappointed. Definitely did not get out $ worth.
6.3 Good
Pros: Charming old Inn. Decor and amenities have been updated and are modern.
Cons: Continental breakfast was bare minimum: toast, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt. Coffee was not palatable. No fresh towels on day 2. Wi-Fi is sporadic, as was satellite tv. Shower is a prefab stall shower. An oversized person would be challenged to shower in there. No elevators for those who may find 2-4 flights of stairs a challenge.

Pros: Very friendly owner - welcoming cup of tea! Good breakfast.
Cons: Shared bathroom
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Shower was not good, bedroom doors did not lock. No place to plug in phone for charging or making plans for continuing my trip. No key was given to the house if I wanted to go out at night and so once they lock the doors no getting back in. I did not appreciate the "turn off your phone and computer" before entering. As someone traveling those devices are necessary to continue planning my trip. Wallpaper was in bad condition and the place was not clean. Also site pricing is very badly set-up on bookings.com. Beware of bait and switch if you want the second bed in the double room. No internet. As well the security is somewhat questionable, I had closed the door to my room when leaving and I came back to find the door open. Do not recommend.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Shower facilities
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Quaint, quiet. Easy walk to downtown.
Cons: Shared bathroom is very old. OK for a one night stay though.
7.1 Good
Pros: It was an attractive period property and host was very welcoming. Comfortable beds. Location quiet but within easy walking distance of restaurants.
Cons: No lock on bedroom door. Too many rules. Only one bathroom shared between 3 separate sets of guests (5 people in total). Poor shower. Limited choice at breakfast and guests expected (told) to clear the table after eating.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, owner was accommodating
Cons: Shower needs to be better!
7.5 Good
Pros: Simple but hearty breakfast. A few more condiment selections would have been appreciated. Liked the fresh fruit.
Cons: The added fee for using the 2nd bed in our room was a bit hidden on the booking.com website but our host, Mark, explained it to us do we weren’t surprised by the extra cost. No heat in the room in a rather cold month of May but we were warm once under the covers.
