The hotel is nice and clean. But please, I suggest you not to do your laundry. You will be charged crazily and moreover they broke some of my clothes.
Grear location to see Orchha. Sense of just slightly faded splendour.
Although facilities were genuinely very good up against other Indian hotels it was not Western levels of maintenance etc e.g. our door had to be locked to stay closed, uniforms of staff needed a wash. I would recommend though. Really beautiful and we were very well looked after in a lovely room.
- the old buildings - the big bathroom - the comfy bed
The place still has the charm of ancient buildings (even if the WiFi doesn’t work anywhere and the plugs in the room are a joke), and some members of the staff are really nice (especially the man who brought us flowers everyday), but that’s it. One evening, we ordered 2 beers. When we opened the 1st one, the cap broke and some pieces of glass fell in the bottle. The beer has no gas left and was undrinkable. So we get rid of it and drank the other one which was ok. We tried to explain the problem to the manager and even showed him the broken bottle, but he didn’t do anything. His only answer after we tried to get another one was « Sorry madam but no. » According to him, we should have come to him with the beer to prove it was bad. So after arguing for a while, we were charged 600 roupies for one beer. During our check out, we waited almost 30mn for the card terminal to work, and we had to pretend not having any cash to finally use it. We wanted a tuk tuk to go to the city center, they simply explained that there was too much traffic and that we had to go by foot. We ended up walking for 25mn with our bags. They have no sens of service, and we felt as they were only interested in our money. Forget about this fake palace, you’ll be better in one of the guesthouse in the center.
place a building
no internet in room, food that good
Old world charm. One does not visit place like Orccha to stay in supposedly modern dwelling. One can jump into Betwa river from this Retreat. Loved it.
