Great for a quick trip to Kyoto and lodging on a budget. Bed was comfy, room was clean, staff was friendly, and breakfast provided. pay double compared to Tokyo's Metro fares (3/2015).
Keyed entry/light-- Key required to be placed in a special lock inside the room to allow usage of light. Secondary light switches were provided, but main light remained on unless key was turned to off position. A little unconvenitonal, but not a big deal.
When visiting Otsu, Smile Hotel Otsu Seta is a great choice to consider. Free perks include WiFi, wired Internet, and buffet breakfast daily between 6:30 AM and 9 AM. Rooms offer flat-screen TVs, refrigerators, and slippers.
