Air-conditioner not working, but also not needed
Didn’t realise it was so far out of Oxford. Definitely only accessible by car Also had to book 2 rooms because a third person could not be accommodated in the same room making it too expensive
Lovely setting with great facilities Lovely pool and grounds
Not central so taxis were an issue particularly on Saturday night.
Huge bedroom, with a small patio looking out to the river. Comfortable bed. Clean. The staff were kind and very quick to help arrange taxis into town.
It is a full 10 minute taxi ride into Oxford on major highways, and you are very much in the middle of nowhere. While there is some outdoor space for walking around, there are no paths through the property. The river path is on the opposite bank and is inaccessible, making running or biking impossible.
Hotel location, check in, room, restaurant, staff
Only criticism, the service in the main restaurant on Saturday night was initially poor. We were shown to our table, given a bottle of water and 2 glasses we sat for a minimum of 35 minutes before we asked a waitress if she would like to get us a drink and take our order. Service was better after that, but on reflection, somebody needs to be in charge and manage. Same at breakfast, we had to ask where or if the tea and coffee were served from. Many tables left with pots on and uncleared some sat cluttered for more than half an hour. The rooms air conditioning was not working, so we had the use of a free standing fan just not the same and in honesty I suffered through being just to hot. To be honest I did feel this was disappointing but with the overall experience this would not put me off staying at this hotel again.
