ALL BUT ONE OF THE FRONT DESK CLERKS WAS HELPFUL WITH GREAT ATTITUDES, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST ONE I MET.
NEEDED AN ADDITIONAL GARBAGE CAN IN ROOM WHICH THE MAID DID NOT WANT TO PROVIDE. ALSO, WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE ONE ENGLISH LANGUAGE NEWS CHANNEL ON THE TV AND ENGLISH NEWSPAPERS AVAILABLE AT FRONT DESK.
Location was great, close to restaurants and shops as well as Goncourt metro. Room was clean, decor quirky and interesting. Staff mostly very helpful. Value for money.
The room was on the top floor so had low eaves and the lighting wasn’t adequate so overall it felt cramped and awkward. Not enough towels for two women and a drain smell in the bathroom, plus the door didn’t close. Built-in cupboard was dark and awkward to get to. Main reception staff were friendly, but did get double charged for a bottle of water onto the room despite giving him cash. Standard tiny bathroom and elevator of most Parisian buildings. For the price paid it was fine, certainly enough for a convenient cheap base.
Good bed and good shower. The decoration of the room was cool
The rooms were small
Funny decoration, simple hotel, yet nicely located, clean, and with a very helpful and welcoming staff.
Great Budget Hotel & Clean
To my surprise the previous bad reviews that I read were very wrong about this hotel. I rented a private room, so I can only inform you about that type of experience. It was very clean, they provided a hairdryer, the staff spoke excellent English, and several other languages. They always have someone at the front desk, even late at nights to help accommodate you for checking in, just in case your flight comes in late at night, or early in the morning. People sometimes forget that the culture in France is different, so what might be considered rude over here in the U.S. may not be considered rude in France. For example the lack of acknowledging you immediately when you go to the front desk, in their culture you’re supposed to say something, and understand if the staff member is on the phone and will pay attention to you when s/he is finished. Discussing, debating, and asking about politics is also considered a normal conversation in France, so the culture is very different from our own over here in the U.S.A.
To be honest I didn’t like how tiny my room was, and I got a private room. If you’re traveling with someone else, be prepared to be much closer to that person than you may have planned. There was also only one available electrical outlet, so if you’re renting a private room, I’d suggest bringing either a power strip along with your electrical outlet converter, or a plug with multiple USB ports with your electrical outlet converter.
