Pros: Really nice place - the room was amazing, overlooking a large pond, with turtles and many birds. The staff were great - we had the same guide for our stay (Mirko) and he did a great job on the excursions. The food was nice and there was always a good variety. The pick-up and drop-off to the airport was smooth and quick. Note: it is about 20 minutes on a boat from Puerto Maldonado so you are unlikely to see some of the animals you would do much further in.
Cons: On our last night somebody was playing loud music about 1AM (I briefly heard it, but was very tired), but somebody else staying said it kept them up. Due to the nature of the hotel (i.e. built so that you can hear the sounds of nature), the walls are made of material/mosquito netting in part. So the hotel should have a way of checking that people aren't playing music/being excessively noisy.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Inkaterra made our stay so easy. Guides are assigned based on length of stay, and the hotel gives each party a recommended activity plan. We participated in 2-3 activities each day from hikes to a canopy tour an canoeing. We saw much wildlife including exotic birds, giant otters and night monkeys. Luis, our guide, was very personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The food, which is included, was very good.
Cons: Cocktails were a little expensive.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The main lodge is based in an old plantation w/ private cabanas scattered around the property. All of the buildings are beautiful! All of the activities were fun and informative, the guides were top notch and the food was all delish!
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The cabanas were very comfortable and clean. The food was very good and the staff very accommodating and friendly. Thanks to Pedro, we learned a lot about plants and animals ..he was very knowledgeable and kind. This lodge is not for high adventure seekers but more for those who want to know what lives in the forest.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Location and expeditions
Cons: Kids did not let us sleep

Pros: Staff was extraordinary friendly and helpful. They made us feel very comfortable from the moment we entered the place. One could feel their passion for towards their job. Very delicious breakfast and lunch provided. Free bike rental. Good WiFi. Very cool bungalow with cool details in every room. One spacious shower inside the bathroom and one more outside. *****
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Awesome breakfast. Peaceful and quiet
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The food was amazing. Property was quiet, intimate, and beautifully landscaped.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: I think the location is good, not too close and far from the center. Therefore, the place is quiet and away from the noise. The recommendation of jungle hiking was very well. The route was well organized, and the guilder was professional, who told you a lot of interesting knowledge about the jungle.
Cons: if you want to take food in the center, you have to take a taxi there.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Andre and Anthony were fantastic hosts. Anthony is an incredible cook and all the vegetarian meals were way beyond our expectations. Both of them did so much to make sure we were comfortable and to help arrange our activities. Our room had a beautiful garden view and the hotel itself was very tranquil and pleasant to stay in. The tour agency they partner with was great as well.
Cons: The hotel is a bit outside of town, which was great for experiencing nature but made it feel a little isolated at night- you could call a taxi into Puerto Maldonado, but there is not much in the immediate area.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had a really tranquil time doing some yoga on the carpet while looking at nature. Wonderful chef Anthony who made sure he surpised me with something amazing gourmet every night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: From the very beginning the experience was great! André (one of the owners) was very quick in responding to any questions we had with booking and was very helpful when we needed to change our arrival dates very last minute. Anothony (the other owner) as well as André were both there to greet us with warm welcomes when we arrived and had arranged for us an airport pickup. The property is very well maintained and the buildings are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and great natural light/ the feeling of being completely in nature. Anthony is an incredible cook and served up some of the tastiest/most nutritious vegetarian meals I have had during my entire stay in Peru. As great as the accommodations and food were, what won us over was the kindness of all the staff members working at Kapievi! From the morning kitchen staff to the groundskeepers, to the owners André and Anthony everyone was so kind. Highly recommended.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The property was very close to the airport, downtown and to the turístico areas like the rivers Madre de Dios and Tambopata. 100% personalized customer service, Andre and Antony had provided accurate information about tours and help us making arrangements with tours and pickup/drop off. We found great food also there, Antony is really a master chef, we all enjoy everything he cooked. The cabin was great, it was a wonderful experience spent a couple of nights there, we felt connected to the mother natura and all it represent. I found in Kapievi Ecovillage more that I was expecting. Thank you Andre and Antony one more time, you guys are awesome!!

Pros: Food was amazing! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful property. Variety of excursions to choose. Being able to relax in the hammock with a view of the river was lovely and the perfect way to end a busy day of adventure.
Cons: Electricity is turned off during certain hours of the day. Would have liked the ceiling fan to be on all night.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Fantastic staff! Everything was taken care of for us and I can’t say how impressed I am with the logistics of this property. Excursions were all laid out for us and we had a great guide with Javier whose English was excellent as was his knowledge of the area. Highly recommend!
Good 6.0
Pros: The excursions , our tour guide , and the location
Cons: The food , it was all included but not hight level And they were renovating the hotel , so there was noise 7.00-17.00 in the middle of the jungle!!!!
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Amazing location, extremely friendly and helpful staff, great excursions.
Cons: No WiFi or signal. I would rather turn off my WiFi than have it imposed in me.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The customer service was exceptional from the moment we arrived to the airport. The staff was friendly, cordial and very helpful. The property exceed our expectations, the restaurant had a great variety of food and our guide for all the tours was beyond amazing. We were fortunate to have a river view cabana and could watch the sunset every night. We are glad we picked this resort for our experience in the Amazon, we’ll definitely come back.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Location was amazing, staff was incredible and tours provided an excellent introduction to the area.
Cons: Menu could use more variety.

Pros: Breakfast was fantastic It has ac which is super
Cons: We got a room which smelled so much of damp it was uncomfortable Staff at reception did not speak English WiFi is very weak
Excellent 8.3
Pros: This is a beautiful hotel located on a really dark street that is dirt and the neighborhood is pretty rough. It is gorgeous in a very nice spot. I am not sure why the street is in such bad shape.
Good 7.5
Pros: I booked a suite so, I do not know about the other types of rooms. I received a very complete set of personal hygiene items. They put some really nice flowers on my salon table. The bed was comfortable. I had plenty of space.
Cons: Late at night they switch of the lights in the corridors and there is no automatic movement sensor. It was very dark and I got lost. but had to find my way back to the reception and they helped me.

Pros: Location, clean, safe

Pros: Great locatio, try to stay at the top floor for better view of the local sloths. If your going to explore the city for a day or two this is the location you want to stay at.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Prompt service. Changed my room without any hassle. Cool A/C. Great shower. The steak at the restaurant was fantastic. The bartender at the pool was awesome
Cons: A lot of stairs
Excellent 10.0
Pros: A surprisingly lovely room with views of the river.

Pros: You feel there like you are in the jungle. From swimming pool is very nice view to river. Rich breakfast. Comfortable room with balcony. Private parking place. Near to city centre.
Cons: Wifi doesnt work very well.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Exceptional location, I even saw a sloth in the tree right outside my room balcony. Absolutely lovely clean comfortable stay. We had an early departure (3:30 AM) and the staff graciously prepared a generous selection of breakfast in a bag, even catering to my colleague's dietary needs.
Cons: nothing bad to report!
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Amazing view from the apartment, lovely pool and staff are awesome WiFi works very very well
Cons: Breakfast is OK but not as awesome as other hotels in the area are offering. Room has a grand view but doesn't have that much equipment (no safe, kettle etc)
Excellent 10.0

Pros: If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere, sotupa was great. Exactly beside the tambopata river with great views. The house itself is also beautiful with a lot of open space.
Cons: It was overpriced for what was being offered as an all inclusive package. All the food was tasty and large portions but lunch and dinner were very basic. There was no appetiser/starter or side bread, nor any dessert (fruit etc). There was also not much to do after dark.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: This is a rustic authentic property some kms from Puerto Maldonado. It probably has the best location view wise in the area. The owner and staff wwre very friendly and accomodating.
Cons: The road to the property is very rough and transport by 'tuk tuk' a big of a pain. Be prepared but don't let this put you off!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Sotupa was a really great and relaxing place. Jean Pierre, owner of the place, was really friendly and warm and had a lot of knowledge about the jungle that he shared with us. The food was traditional and delicious. You can do a lot of small trips with J.P. as guide or alone and you can do day trips too. Our room and hammock was great with an amazing view over the river. You can even do volunteer work in an animal reserve next door. We visited Satupa in the beginning of January (rainy season), but we only had rain for maximum 10 minutes daily - and almost no mosquitoes. But bring repellent. Highly recommendable - we would love to come back!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: This place is just beautiful - the quality is much higher than the photos make it look and the location and scenery is stunning. The included meals are fantastic. Really we just loved staying here with our kids.
Cons: Honestly, nothing.
Mediocre 3.8
Pros: Nice views. Food was good. Eager manager and willing to help.
Cons: Price not justified, not higher-end. For meals you had to serve yourself, and they lacked variety (same thing on a whole plate). Doors were not working well, faucets loose, loose planks on the walkway... hopefully these will be rectified. The guide/manager is not fully knowledgeable on animals, i.e. he did not know the difference between reptiles and amphibians. Manager did not communicate with staff, and because he leaves after meal time and is often absent, staff does not know what plans were made. Sotupa claims to be in the middle of the jungle. It is not. It is Near a jungle. Its property resembles more of an orchard. Some lodges nearby are actually connected to the jungle though.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The staff was fantastic! Property was awesome! It was a world away from the everyday.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Wonderful atmosphere and Amazing and knowledgeable staff!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The location was fantastic, the place is simple but great to unwind (there's no cellphone reception unless you're on the Claro network, and even then it's spotty). Our host Jean Pierre was friendly and taught us about local fauna and flora. He also arranged vegetarian and seafood meals on request, and sorted out our transfers and tours with a smile. Great service!

Pros: The place is not really near the center, takes about 5-7 min drive with tuk tuk but the hotel is really nice with spacious rooms and nice clean bathroom. The water pressure is great and there is hot water. Daily cleaning of rooms. They provide cheap laundry service. Really nice and polite staff. Breakfast is simple, probably like rest of Peru. Restaurant/pizzeria just across the hotel is amazing and must check place.
Good 7.1
Cons: I thought hotel airport transfer was included. But the taxi driver said at the end of the trip it was not. No clear info
Okay 5.8
Pros: Pool area is nice
Cons: It says on the listing this property is “450m from the centre” - I’m not sure what measure is used for the centre but it’s nowhere near anything. We had to take a taxi each day to a nice/more touristy hotel Wasai where we could sit and eat and have drinks and walk around the area. I wouldn’t stay here again as the area has absolutely nothing nearby.
Okay 5.0
Cons: The person working at the front desk was really not friendly.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Liked hotel so much, I returned for a day by the pool after my Amazonia trip. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms comfortable and quiet (poolside not roadside) Good size pool $15 for late check out until 3pm is good value Tasty pizzeria diagonally opposite hotel Not walking distance to centre but good fun travelling there on a moto taxi which costs 3 sol.
Cons: Nothing I didn't like.
Good 7.5
Pros: Breakfast wasn't good. The location is not central.
Cons: The hotel was okay for one night stay. Cheap price.
Excellent 8.3
Pros: Service, clean, safe, near airport, close to eating joints. Good for short stay
Cons: Nothing that i can comment
Excellent 8.3
Pros: the breakfast was very good! We also like the air conditioning. the pool was also quite refreshing. A must in that region when traveling with kids!
Cons: comfort of the room but for the price paid it is an overall deal!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Staff was outstanding. Breakfast was lovely with the best coffee we've had in Peru. Swimming pool was clean and refreshing. In town in only 10 minutes buy moto car to the airport. Walkable to many restaurants.
Cons: AC was a little weak.

Pros: We had an absolutely magical experience at Anaconda Lodge: experiences I very much doubt we would have had at any other lodge; more on that later. But, I'll preface all those positives with an overview of what to expect, as I wasn't entirely sure given there aren't too many recent reviews. Firstly, Anaconda Lodge is very much a back to nature, basic, simple lodge. Don't expect toiletries in the bathrooms or brand new linens. That said, do expect hot showers, WiFi (!) and a pool (very cold, but my son loved it!). The website isn't up to date, but still gives you a good idea of some of the trips and other particulars. When we were there, Kik, daughter of the owners, was running the place on her own with 1 member of staff. Kik cooks whenever you want (from a Thai menu - she and her mum are Thai), organises your trips, makes great pisco sours and generally makes sure everything is ticking over. She is utterly fabulous! Location: despite being incredibly close to what has to be one of the cutest airports I've seen, you are absolutely in the jungle. And this is why our experience was particularly magical. I had vacillated about booking a lodge deeper into the Amazon Basin and whilst there would have been advantages I'm sure (busier clay licks for one), the Anaconda has resident, but still wild, monkeys. One of the red howlers (adorably named Pancake) was a rescue as a baby and she and 2 males are frequently around. Pancake will even sit on you - on her terms of course, but she utterly charmed us and we had plenty of cuddles with her. There are also a couple of sloths and having been on a wildlife trip in the jungle one day and told we were very lucky to see a sloth in the distance, we got back to the lodge to find a sloth chilling out within touching distance! And then there were the squirrel monkeys, spider monkeys, etc. We met travellers who stayed deeper in the jungle and were thoroughly envious of our close encounters!
Good 7.0
Pros: Great pool and gorgous Thai food. Staff very friendly. Perfact location near the airport before heading off on jungle tour
Excellent 10.0
Pros: The best longing in Puerto Maldonado the owners are very friendly and the swimming pool is serene and very good stay. Thank you
Good 6.0
Pros: Very close to the airport. Cabins in a big garden, we saw a sloth. Breakfast was great, big pancakes! Swimming pool available and staff speak english.
Cons: Out of town (this is an airport hotel). Seems a bit rundown, they kindly upgraded us but our cabin was very dusty.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: The people were every friendly but the property didn’t look anything like the pictures
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Great breakfast with pancakes! Lovely people and they are very helpful. Swimmingpool is so nice. But the monkeys are what makes this place even more special!

Cons: Bit run down

Excellent 10.0
Pros: I did Refugio Amazonas (1 night), Tambopata Research Center (2 nights) and Posada (1 night) - they all belong to Rainforest Expeditions. They are eco-friendly and offer truly authentic experiences. The guides all know English and biology to explain the wild life around you. I loved it and highly recommend it. It's good to do 3 because they each have different wild life / lakes / things you can see. If you're strapped for time TRC is the best - its the deepest and furthest so you see more.
Mediocre 3.8
Cons: Poorly organized. You get dropped off at their office early in the morning even though your flight is at 5pm. So you hang around their office all day. If you ask for a snack while you are waiting they refer you to the bar to purchase something. For a lodge in that price range I would expect much better service and more professional staff. Our guide was great however!
Excellent 10.0
Cons: The Posada Amazonas is a high end lodge in the middle of the forest. Included in the amount we paid was transportation from the airport, accommodation, good food and a guide that organized activities all day in the forest. It was an epic experience.
Excellent 8.8
Pros: A very comfortable way to experience the rainforest. Staff were lovely and good food. Canopy views were excellent.
Cons: It was a good introduction to the rainforest but perhaps a little bland for someone who has done it before.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: The guides
Excellent 9.2
Pros: I was looking forward to a relaxing couple of days swinging in my hammock, reading a book, and listening to the sounds of the jungle. That is NOT what is on offer here. Sure, you can opt out of the guided tours, but you'd be missing SO MUCH. You are assigned a guide and a group, and you do everything together; explore the jungle, fish for piranha (catch and release, natch), even break bread together. Our guide, Luis M., was knowledgeable and accommodating. The staff of the resort were friendly and helpful. The activities director even walked me back to my room with an umbrella in one of the hugest lightening storms I have ever encountered. The food was plentiful and good. Just getting there and back was an adventure. An amazing experience. Bring bug spray, good shoes/boots, a decent flashlight and a flexible attitude, and you'll have a wonderful time.
Cons: Be aware that although you have your own room with private bathroom, hot shower, etc, there is very little actual privacy. The wall facing the jungle isn't there. There is no wall, just a railing. Also, the walls separating the rooms don't go all the way to the roof. You can't see through them, but you can hear everything going on in the next room, and they can hear you. It was never an issue for us, but might be for some. I've never been "glamping", but this is somewhat like it, I think.
Good 7.1
Pros: The jungle walks and wildlife viewing was amazing. The guides were very knowledgable and were able to spot animals and bugs.
Cons: We were switched from one guide to another one twice snd so weren't sure where to sit for our meal as they have you sit with your guides. They asked us to move twice which entailed moving our drinks and plates of food which was quite frustrating. It was just a bit disorganized.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Beautiful location, wonderful guides who are passionate and extremely knowledgable about the Amazon basin (animals and flora). Lots of activities to choose from. Great food and lots of it!
Cons: I would like more activities for active fitter people (like the mountain biking that was offered but more). Like longer more difficult hikes? Or kayaking?

Pros: Bed was comfortable and that's probably the only one thing I have liked.
Cons: -water wasn't warm as it was promised -poor wifi connection -dust and spiders webs on the floor and behind the beds (I dropped something behind the bed, that's why I know) -very loud, I couldn't sleep well even with earplugs -breakfast was poor, instant coffee plus egg and an apple. I didnt get bread at the first time -only one older lady was nice, othet at the check in wasn't that polite -had to wait 10min in the evening, after going to the city, untill somebody opens the gate for me
Good 7.9
Pros: Comfortable bed, good shower. Nice modern hotel. Friendly staff, at least when you could get hold of them.
Cons: Located a little bit of a walk from the centre of town. Had some trouble finding staff to check us out the morning we were leaving. A little on the pricy side for what you get.
Good 6.7
Pros: The room was clean and the staff were nice.
Cons: The Wifi, worst wifi in the world. Inside our room was very bad.
Good 7.9
Pros: The place was homely and the staff was always similing. They also accomodated to keep our luggage for overnight during a visit to the jungles. The breakfast consisted of eggs and bread fruit juice and coffee. There are a number eating places near by including a local market and supermarket all in walking distance.

Pros: Great place to stay, lovely staff, in a quiet area just a short walk from the action.
Good 7.5
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Pros: Relaxing spot - we enjoyed the pool while we waited for excursions. Not really the type of place you can go without buying their excursion packages - we opted for the 3d/2n excursion package in the end, which brought our bill to $399 for two people including all meals, the stay at the lodge and the activities. We settled that at the office after our airport pickup (paid by card with a percentage markup for doing so). We especially enjoyed the day trip to Sandoval Lake - they leave really early (4:30 I think) and that allows you to get onto the lake before most and right when the animals are active and the light is at its prettiest. The food was enough, nothing exceptional but we were happy with it. We enjoyed the group we were placed with as well (you basically are assigned a table with others who are on your same activity schedule). The cabins are big, with basic furnishings. Expect bugs and dirt but nothing off-putting. There were chickens who roamed around underneath the cabins as well. The grounds are pleasant - you get a picture of them on the zipline or canopy tour. Electricity only for four hours - charge anything you need then and bring extra batteries. The view from above the dock is pretty and a good spot to watch the sunset.
Cons: Slightly disappointed with the canopy walk - we got up quite early but didn't see any wildlife. It's not really the right spot for big birds and made us regret not having spent an additional night to be able to get out to the salt lick to see them. More our fault planning-wise than a negative for the property. Wasn't a big fan of the night walk (and the creepy-crawlys we could see during it) but it was fun to do as a group.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: I had the best time traveling to the Amazon and would 10/10 recommend Monte Amazonica to friends! Great location far enough away from town with beautiful property, gardens and relaxing areas. I especially loved the hammocks and pool. Food was yummy and filling. Plus there is a bar :) Cabins were very clean and comfortable. Bring an extra battery pack to charge electronics as electricity is only available for 4 hours. Also bring a refillable water bottle and plenty of warm weather, light weight clothes. I was a solo traveler on this journey and made tons of friends in my group. And huge bonus that our tour guide Daniel is the coolest! He is very knowledgeable and shared great stories. If you want an opportunity to live in the jungle for a few days, see lots of animals and unwind and disconnect this is your place. I’ll definitely be back to visit!! Thanks for an incredible trip!
Cons: I think they can make improvements to the website. Add more information and make it more user friendly. As a solo traveler I needed a little more information before embarking on my trip.
Excellent 9.6
Pros: Great location away from town but not too much of a hassle. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cool activities nearby.
Cons: There were some renovations happening so was a bit noisy during the day. Some of the facilities seemed run down (canopy walk/zip-line) but it seemed like work was being done to improve things. Showers weren't hot but wasn't a real problem since it was so warm.
Good 7.5
Pros: The location near the Chuchna Clay Licks was excellent.
Cons: The architecture of the individual bungalows was interesting but not practical as their placement near each other created less privacy. Coordination of transportation to and from the site needs to be better arranged as eight people were originally going to be squeezed into a vehicle for five, making for an unsafe situation.
