The location is great. It was warm in the hotel. There was a safe deposit box in my room. I paid only ~50% of the usual room rate. Good for solo-travelers without sophisticated tastes.
The entrance is extremely dirty. The walls in my room were stained with something, and so was the bathroom floor. The room is small. The interior decoration is poor. I don't understand why they claim that it is a hotel of a premium category. The breakfast is poor.

Hotel staff were polite and efficient.
The rooms that face onto the Fontanka canal are too noisy to sleep in. The car traffic is loud and non-stop, there is loud music on that side of the building, and street drinkers congregate just outside the windows. The rooms that face onto a very grimy courtyard are quiet, but tiny. The breakfast provided was a paper lunch bag, with instant cereal, juice and crackers.

This is my second stay here. It's clean, comfortable, and is good value. Location was suitable for my requirements. It is an honest no frills hotel with a light snack type breakfast included. If you want more, look elswhere.
Don't be put off by the entrance. It is common with others. The real entrance is one floor up.
