There's a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, lots of places to sit, a large well equipped kitchen and a beautiful garden with picnic benches. The bed was surprisingly comfortable despite being basic and everything was clean. It also seems suitable for all ages, with several families staying here as well as several groups of young backpackers. There's plenty of toys around if you want to bring the kids.
Some bits are beautiful, but others are a little run down. But everything functions as it should and considering the price I'd say its still great value for money. Only other downside was that the staff are often away from the reception, which made it hard to get hold of them over the phone. I rang about 5-6 times during check in hours and couldn't get through.
Loved the way everything was so easy, relaxing and nothing was too much trouble....perfect hidey hole.
No-where to have a snack as the cafe was closed. A wee bit expensive on the wine and food front because it really isn't all that. Especially as it's only a hostel and with no cafe, it was a tad expensive.
Location and accessible to Stonehenge heritage
Upon arrival at check in..staff aren't efficient to check how many we are and rooms we booked and had to come down stairs just to collect another room key. (Yr exhausted travelling long journey)
The staff were all friendly and helpful (Hi Rebecca) and the BBQ was delicious (With MASSIVE helpings).
There isn't a great deal of parking and you may find yourself blocked in.
Everything you expect from a youth hostel
The location further away from stone henge than I expected as was on cycle but the location was lovely and remote.
