Pro " The location is a safe neighborhood with beautiful walking trails. I was a single-female traveler (and pregnant), and I have never felt so safe at a temporary rental before. Jessica's communication was beyond exceptional and welcoming, and the large window looking out at ground level was fun due to the constant war between squirrels and jays for seed the hosts put out for them. The family in the home was quiet, the apartment is beautifully maintained and was clean, little extras like water, shampoo, salt and pepper and cooking oil were provided... I could go on. I didn't think I'd care for the smart TV but it turns out having Netflix at my fingers was actually quite a nice comfort. Jessica lent me a potato peeler from her own kitchen during my stay, and also helped me out when my pre-arranged ride to the airport didn't show up - she waited outside with me for 45 minutes, tried phone calls on my behalf and also acted as a translator when my driver finally did call back. Although a little further from UBC than I'd have liked, it was well worth it and I would gladly return should I ever make the trip out to Vancouver again. Thank you Jessica for a perfect stay and for creating a 'home away from home' atmosphere! "
Con " The 2-element burner was effective but a little slow for daily cooking use. A super minor detail: I could have used more hangers (there were some, but not many); that being said, the shelving provided more than ample space for storing clothing for my week-long stay (I only used 1.5 shelves + hangers). 7.7 Good (64 reviews)
Pro " Nice house in a quiet and safe area. Clean room with good matress and everything necessary in it. "
Con " The house is extremly light hearing in general. All rooms (even the upstairs one) open into the commen areas (living room, entrance, kitchen). Walls are paper thin, pipes not insulated and door locks, bell rings (telephone and door) and the shower knob are very noisy. It is a family home turned into a guesthouse but without any change in sound protection or layout and it becomes obvious it was not built for this purpose. The house is stuffed with guests, they rent out 6 rooms!!! Of course up to 12 persones on such small grounds increase the noise level and may also lead to problems with just 2 bathrooms shared. The hosts don´t set up or inforce any house rules, especially no quiet times. All the above said may still be acceptable for people not sensitive to noise or when the house is not full, But: I did stay in room No.2 AND IT IS A SHAME TO RENT THIS ROOM: Why? It is bordering the kitchen with a super thin wood wall, supplying zero sound proofing. You hear every word in the kitchen, which can be used by all guests. It was cleaned passed 23.00 in the evening and small children (toddler size) starting crying there before 7. That´s entirely unacceptable and it is NOT the guests fault. They do nothing prohibited. You cannot possibly rent such a room and it is absolutley mandatory to set up and inforce quiet times in such a place. I left after one night with way to little sleep, altough I had already paid for 2. "
