The breakfast was amazing!
The bed was a little bit uncomfortable
Centrally located close to restaurants, Bus Station
Great location. Antigua Casona is three or four blocks from the bus station and a block and a half from the main plaza. There are six rooms in the hotel running down one side of a small courtyard. On the other side of the courtyard is an exterior wall separating the hotel from a neighbouring property. My wife and I spent two nights there in early March 2019. On both nights we were the only guests in the hotel.
I don't normally leave negative feedback but there were two things we really didn't like about our stay at Antigua Casona. The first was no fault of the hotel, but guests should be warned. On our second night (a Thursday) the neighbours on the other side of the courtyard began an outdoor party about nine o'clock which featured someone attempting to play bongos very loudly and very badly. Periodically they would stop for fifteen or twenty minutes, then just as we were dropping off to sleep the bongos would start again. This went on till three o'clock in the morning. This may or may not be a regular occurrence but if you choose to stay here, make sure you bring a good pair of earplugs. (I now notice that one earlier review complained about noisy neighbours.) The second bad experience did involve the hotel. The listing on Booking.com states that the price quoted "includes taxes and charges". When I went to pay the bill, I asked the guy at the front desk whether the charge on my bill (which was the same as the price quoted on Booking.com) did include taxes. He confirmed that it did. I then explained that as foreigners paying with a foreign debit card (the hotel does not accept credit cards), we were exempt from the 21% VAT. I also explained that we had been travelling around Argentina for ten weeks and that no other hotel had charged us the tax. He looked at me, thought a bit, than asked me to wait while he went to check. A couple of minutes later he returned and said that he had been wrong and that the price I was being billed did NOT include taxes! I shook my head, didn't argue, and just paid the bill. It was only an extra ARS$1100 or so; not enough to bankrupt us but enough to leave a bad taste in the mouth.
Very kind and accommodating staff. Beautiful old house. Quiet. Breakfast better than usual (by Argentine standards!)
The best breakfast (fresh croissants, fruit, yogurt). Location was great-close to the bus station and the town center. Very clean hotel and easy to find. The lady at the desk helped us even though there was a language barrier.
