Great location within easy walking distance to downtown and nearby restaurants. Nice gardens. Nice young couple acting as caretakers. Historic property with large rooms and interesting original leaded stained glass.
The breakfast was pretty basic, reheated banana or fruit bread with a fruit salad, packaged yoghurt and decaf Keurig coffee and granola. At this price point at other B&Bs in Washington state, we have been offered a cooked breakfast. The outside of the property could use some paint and TLC, particularly as it also serves as a wedding venue. Boxes of tissues for guest use in the rooms would be nice.
Our bed in the rose room could use a better mattress-it was very soft.
The place is gorgeous! The room and the bed are very comfortable, and the bathroom was wonderfully quaint. Even though a lot of the furniture and equipment are new, it's hard to tell, since they matched them to the old things so well. The neighbourhood is beautiful and quiet, and there was a pub and some other restaurants nearby. Downtown is also very close. For the price of staying it was great!
Check-in was rather informal, which wasn't really a problem, but we were expecting a bit more involvement. Some of the downstairs rooms were bare because it was being set up for a wedding the next day, so it felt less impressive that day. And the breakfast was very basic - again, not really a problem, as they didn't advertise otherwise, and it was quite good.
Old world charm!
Small bathroom facilities but that’s part of the charm!
Very satisfactory breakfast and seating arrangements allowed conversing with other guests. Parking close to property. Safe area, good for walking after being out for dinner. Close to the big Museum/art gallery.
The air conditioning was appreciated BUT could not turn off the floor air blower when it was time for bed and its noise was very loud and continuous. I am a gardener and couldn't help noticing the large number of weeds in the borders. Picky perhaps but the rest of the property is so picturesque that this took away from its beauty.
