The staff are very nice and clearly good people. They are very netherlanders with strong accent that's pleasant to hear. Very close to train station, shops, restaurants Oudegracht is behind the hotel, Dom tower and Miffy museum are ten minute walk. Room had plenty storage space, iron and ironing board, kettle with tea and coffee, hairdryer and body lotions.
The hotel isn't modern and is in desperate need of major renovation. In my room there was notice in the saying they are going to renovate soon. The lift is very slow and beaten. I ended mostly using the stairs out of fear. The hallways have green walls and carpets that makes think of snot. The didn't have a ceiling light, only lamps so it was quite dark. The room has wood floors that had a pile of dust and bits where the cleaner had missed. There was number of smiling potraits painted on the walls. Maybe they think they look trendy, but they are school level quality and tacky. No need. There was a 5 foot painting of woman's head on my wall above and to the side of my bed. She was a bit scary to look up at. Location means hearing young people on the way home from drinking, but I have heard worse. The breakfast was a typical netherlabds of cold meat, cheese, toast and croissants. I passed and elsewhere.
Everything about the hotel and my room, i love how its in between the past and the future.
The T.V was a bit complicated and slow to use other than the t.v can't think of anything else
The location is really great near restaurants, train station, buses, shopping mall. The staff was very nice.
The room's photographs vs reality had nothing to do, it seems that the hotel is recently renewed but not the case. Pretty dirty, and the housekeeper never did the room well. Overpriced for what I got.
This is a four-star in name only. The room was more like a slightly improved student room. Very misleading and disappointing
The location to the Tivoli and the train station.
Bad, uncomfortable experience. For starters, to get to your room you have to get through a maze that involves going through an underground connecting hallway and two elevators. The room has no AC and it doesn't even have a frigobar. There is a monitor in the room (weirdly located at an unusual angle that you cannot change, not located in front of your bed like in most normal hotels) and it only has access to YouTube, not to actual TV programs. The shower has no curtain or door so the entire bathroom floods when you take a shower. They didn't replace the soap containers when they ran out of soap so I had to ask the reception to give me refills. At one point, I asked for a bucket of ice at the reception and they looked at me like I had three heads (I'm not kidding) and suggested I should go get ice from the Kentucky Fried Chicken store next door! At check out they wanted me to pay again for my stay, when it had already been prepaid prior to my check in. Really? All this and you call yourself a 4-star hotel? I'd say you barely get 2 stars and they do not shine.
