Kaliakra Palace

We loved the location of the hotel; right on the beach and a 5-10min walk on the promenade to the center of Golden Sands. The beach was pretty clean, and the sea was also clean and awesome to swim in. We actually really liked the food - especially breakfast and dinner. It wasn't completely different every day, but there was an ok variety of it. It's nice that they have the open terrace, so we sat outside for every meal and enyojed the view on the sea. As all inclusive guest you always have fresh water and alchoholic and non-alchoholic drinks by hand - which are also quite good may I add. The room was clean, which is my biggest concern anywhere I go. The maids were definitely the nicest and frendliest out of all staff and they did a great job with cleaning and tidying up our room. The staff behind the bar and at the reception were also kind of friendly and eager to help. Beach, shops, food, friendly people - go and explore it, we were actually pleasantly surprised about everything, as it was much better than some of the reviews say - and that goes for the whole Golden Sands, not just the hotel. I'd definitely recommend a visit to Golden Sands, no matter in which hotel you'll stay - but I would recommend the Kaliakra Palace hotel as well, since it's actually a nice value for the money.

The beach part that belongs to Kaliakra hotel was a little dirtier than the neighbour's ones, also the sun beds could be cleaned at least quickly every morning - we cleaned them ourselves everyday, which is not a big deal, but I think it's still the hotel's job to take care of that. A lot of kitchen staff doesn't smile or say anything when you thank them - it feels like they're in a bad mood all the time or they're just sick of their job. You run into some like that at the reception as well - no smiles or kind words. I guess ti depends on who you run into. Although the room was clean, it was clearly dated, because we had a carpet and dark curtains in our room. The bathroom is quite functional but in need of a handy man to tighten some nails - part of the shower fell out, the shelf in under the mirror kind of fell in my hand, the toilet made squeaky sounds everytime you sat and stood up. A 10min maintance visit would fix all of that. However, we paid an insanely low price for this hotel beacuse we caught a special discount, so I wasn't really mad about all that. There are definitely way nicer rooms with a nicer view in the Kaliakra hotel (we saw them when they were cleaning them and the doors were open), so don't be discouraged to pay a bit more and actually enjoy and see why this hotel has 4*. Oh, just forget about using the elevator - there's 2 small ones for max. 4 people, so we rather walked the stairs then throw away an hour a day on waiting for the empty elevator. As I said, no big deals or big problems, but it's not the same as a 4* hotel in Greece, which you can expect of course. I, however, still recommend it.
