The location is excellent. A little bit of road noise but expected for a city. The room was excellent size. On the top floor the twin has a small basin in the room but a separate bathroom and the whole floor to yourself. The room has tea and coffee facilities and a tv with a DVD player! Breakfast is a fantastic choice. Only £5 pppn. They do a full cooked breakfast, scrambled eggs and salmon and kippers. With toast, cereal, yogurts and fruit available.Gluten free bread and soy milk available on request. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. Very knowledgeable about the local area.
The WiFi on the top floor is not the best. Just ask them to re boost the WiFi to get a better signal. The brown sauce and tomato ketchup at breakfast comes in sachets and reusable bottles would be far better. There is only a choice of one jam and marmalade for toast. I feel they need to offer a honey or marmite. The stairs are very steep so on for those able and agile should stay here.
Lovely host. Clean rooms and bedding.
Very dated. Would benefit from a good refurb.
Clean room; friendly staff; comfortable; delicious breakfast
I honestly have no complaints
Very close to the Minster, very safe and lovely owners x
Breakfast was fine. Location good and on an ordinary, not touristy, street. When we finally and occasionally saw the host, he was lovely.
NO ONE on site when we arrived to let us in! We stood in the rain on a stoop at 3:30 in the afternoon ringing the bell. Another couple arrived about the same time, so four of us blocked the sidewalk with suitcases. Fortunately my husband was paying for cell phone coverage in the U.K. and was able to call the number on the window. The other couple had no such option. They would have been SOL. Over the traffic noise, my husband tried to follow instructions over the phone to open a lockbox for a front door key to get all four of us in. No welcome, no help with luggage on the very steep stairs, no directions to our room, just a room key in an envelope. Not what we look forward to in a B&B.
