Very friendly staff and you feel they’re like your family
Proximity to the french border. It took less than 15 minutes to drive over. Also the surrounding area being on one end of the German wine-route which in part made up for the poor location.
OK, we didn't read the small print and the restaurant and bar were closed on two of the four days we stayed there. This we thought strange considering the hotels position so far out of town. They could at least keep the bar open! The owners were on-site all the time! It turned out that quite a number of nearby eateries were also closed (in sympathy?) The breakfast was average but the coffee was awful - with a full cup you could see the bottom of the cup, as if they were re-using the grounds again and again. We asked for an espresso but that wasn't much better! Finally the photo on the site that leads you to believe you are on a lakeside location - don't you belive it. It's a boating-pond that only a select few can see.
the personal attention was very good. The Christmas decorations were very nice.
the breakfast had very little choice and at times even had to ask for some extra bread and ham which were all finished and not replenished.
Grounds and gardens, access to the town via lakeside footpath
No tea/coffee making facilities
