Location, staff & food. Delicious evening meal & made to feel very welcome
Great central location, decor a little dated but it added to the atmosphere. The breakfast was full and of good quality including the coffee.
Manager did not seem to like guests. His style was just a little Basil Fawty but we survived. The staffing level seemed a little low leading to rather slow service. At breakfast no arrangements had been made to allow our large party (9) to sit together despite having dinner as a party the previous night. Other staff members were generally helpful and pleasant. Parking is not very easy and was in short supply in the afternoon of arrival. It is an old build with history but we found the uneven slopes on the bedroom floors a little tricky in the middle of the night. Not for those with poor balance.
Very good breakfast.
The evening meal was basic, two fish choices and two of our party didn’t eat fish, so the option were limited.
Good position for visiting chatsworth house , room good in the court yard , free parking
Small bathroom , some staff not very friendly
Afternoon tea was very disappointing wrong bread on sandwiches scones very hard asked at the bar for some butter to try and soften them didn’t. Even bother bringing us Waited 30 minutes then left the table everything else in the hotel very good as usual good frei
