Overview
The Bluenose Inn is located on Mt. Desert Island off the coast of Maine and is just a short drive from stunning Acadia National Park. It provides amazing views of Frenchman Bay in the distance and is most definitely a destination of its own. However, as it is just walking distance from the charming downtown area of Bar Harbor, it could be the perfect base for an exploration of the area. Cadillac Mountain is eight miles from the hotel, and spots like the Beatrix Farrand Gardens, West Street Historic District, Criterion Theater, Village Green, Great Meadow Walk, Thunder Hole and scores of restaurants shops and seasonal entertainments are also just a short distance away.
A resort-like hotel, the property has an amazing array of amenities right on the premises, including an oversized pool area with sun deck and hot tub, a modern fitness center, spa services (for a fee), regular live performances and happy hours in the lounge, an onsite restaurant offering local specialties, outdoor sitting areas with firepits, laundry services (for a fee), a business service center, free parking, shuttles into town (free), on-site shops, free Wi-Fi throughout, and a concierge desk, among other services.
Rooms vary quite widely and include apartment-like rooms, suites and more. All 98 rooms are decorated in a comfortable, home-like manner and are much larger than traditional rooms. They feature hot beverage stations, luxurious robes, mini fridges, climate controls, 42” HD TVs with cable channels, in-room safes, signature bedding, and most rooms have a balcony, fireplace and all feature large baths with toiletries.

Pros (+) Bar Harbor is the star and the Bluenose is well located. Lovely views, great pool, fabulous piano bar in the evening.
Cons (-) Maybe the staff was tired at the end of the season, but greeters at the front desk were at best perfunctory. We were thrilled to be there - they not in the least welcoming!

Pros (+) Location was good, pool and spa and restaurant are a good. My 8 year old loved it.
Cons (-) No mini fridge in room, continental breakfast was pretty weak.
