Hostel located just 10 min walk from Ramblas - city centre. 3 min walk from metro station ( TETUAN ) , easy access to other metro lines from this station. 10 min walk to Sagrada Familia. Localisation is only one positive in this hostel. For the same money can get a 3-4 stars hotel in Barcelona.
hostel very very noisy, from 7.00 oclock every day a noisy door ring bell was used a many times. Wake up us a few times every day. Doors of rooms are very tick and damage, you can hear any voice from outside of room. Same breakfast every morning, only cheese, marmolade and ham. Chairs cover in rooms smells very bad and bed cover also.
people of the staff were very kind, the room was little and simple but clean, it was in a good position near to the metro station Tetuàn. Also the breakfast was simple but good.
Everything was fine, it is not an exclusive hotel but it is good, expecially for young people.
The most unpleasant surprise was when at 10 am, when we we were still in bed, other tourists opened our door with the key(checkout is 12). They were also surprised to see us there. It was a mistake of the reception but nobody ever apologised for this. Taking into consideration that we during our 3 day stay had to move from one room to another with all our luggage because they had too many people and tried to accomodate everybody, and that at the day of our departure when we came back to pick up our luggage we have to wait at the door for 40 min for the receptionist to come. I can easily say that it was the worst hostel we stayed at.
The location of the hostal is excellent as it is very close to Tetuan metro station and only a 10 minute walk to Gaudi's unfinished cathedral.
Location is very convinient, 10 minutes from placa Catalania and Sagrada Familia, metro and bus stops are right after corner.Staff is very friendly, they suggested places to visit and gave map of the sity.
The building is very old with origianl tile work on the floor and a very interesting ceiling.
the shower curtain tried to eat us!
Friendly staff, very quiet in room 201 at night, slept like a log:bed was comfortable.
Yes,the neighbours cigarette smoke came into room 201,unfortunately.
Amanda (I believe thats her name) was an excellent host. She was super friendly and always smiling. Her English was good and she gave us good recommendations on where to eat and go. The location was a bit out of the downtown center but perfectly located between the downtown and the "la Sagrada familia" which meant we could walk to both in under 15 minutes which was fine for us as we are in our late 20's. Rooms were always cleaned everyday and well. Beds were comfortable enough - better than the place we stayed in Madrid. Overall I would definitely stay here again. Hostel has character :p
Overall it was great value for money. Things that could be improved were (1) No TV (2) Sound-proofing of walls but this is the same case in all hostels in Spain so you need to get over it (3) Shower handle holder was partially broken which made it a bit tough to use effectively but was fine (4) Two single beds pushed together to make a double - again this is so common in hostels in Spain that you just have to live with it I guess... anyways these were very minor things for us as we never expect to spend much time in our hotel other then sleeping. Wifi worked well on the first day but on the 2nd/3rd day was intermittent (in and out).
The hostal was nice and cozy. It´s very close to Tetuan´s metro station and it´s 10 minutes by foot to Passeig de Gràcia. There is an excellent restaurant nearby called Tasca I Vins. Here´s a link to their website http://www.tascaivins.es/
At first we had a nice and big room, but then we had to change rooms after 2 nights, and the room we got for the rest of the stay was really small. We also had a shared bathroom and we were told that only two rooms use it but I think almost all of the guests used the bathroom. But over all, the experience in this hostal was very pleasant.
